Saints release Terrance Copper
and re-sign DE Jeff Charleston. I don't quite understand this one, but I guess we'll find out more later. This is probably a good sign that Colston will indeed play at Carolina. YAHOOOOOOO!

DAMN!
I like Copper. He’s been very reliable on special teams, most recently blocking for Reggie on two TD returns.
I wish this game of musical chairs would stop. I can’t imagine it having a good effect on the locker room. What does Jeff Charleston have to offer that outweighs what Copper has done for this team? He’d better be at least as good in special teams.

Maybe..
…the Saints aren’t comfortable with the D-Line rotation.

Well...
I guess Ellis will be out another game…
But hey, Copper was a good special teamer and mostly reliable when asked to catch a ball. He should be resigned by next week.

Problem is...
….they are so many scouts around that players who can play special team, have reliable hands, experience AND are willing to supervise a younger athlete like he did for Meachem don’t come around that much. And from what I’ve seen going through week 6, there is great demand for 2nd, 3rd and 4th receivers out there.
Loosing him for a DT? Maybe. But for a DE?

Too much talent
at WR position and too many needs on the D-Line. Good leaders have to make tough decisions. …who know’s? I’m sure there was a conversation between Loomis and Copper asking him to sit tight for a week so they could bring him back on.

We'll take him
The Falcons have one of the worst punt returners/sixth receivers in the game in Adam Jennings, and I would be thrilled to bring Copper aboard. Hope we go after him.

bad move
Should’ve released Harrington or Jason David.

height challenged
I was watching him play last week, and he just looks small. It’s like his legs can’t move fast enough to keep up with receivers in man to man. I looked at the Saints roster, and at 5’8" he is now the smallest man, previously tied with Gramatica. I looked at the top 5 teams for passing defense (Ravens, Panthers, Steelers, Bengals, Titans), then found the heights of their CBs. The Ravens’ Corey Ivy at 5’9" was the shortest, most are 5’10" and above. Maybe David just does not have the size. I sure don’t think he can physically run as fast as most WRs with those little legs of his.

Tony Hunt
Released by Philly. Young power back. Could we maybe make use of him?
