Saints sign WR Courtney Roby.
Two days after releasing veteran wide receiver Terrance Copper, the Saints reached agreement Thursday with former Titans wide receiver Courtney Roby.
Senior writer John Clayton covers the NFL for ESPN.com.
The 25-year-old Roby was selected in the third round of the 2005 draft by the Titans. Roby was with the Bengals in 2007 and made the Indianapolis Colts roster this year. He was released by the Colts in the second week of the season. He played in the opener but didn't start.
Roby, who is 6-feet, 189 pounds, caught 21 passes for 289 yards and a touchdown at a Titans rookie in 2005. He started six games that season.
I was wondering why we did this... and then I ran across this.

That video was preseason
A preseason return against the scrubs playing for the sorriest team in the NFL hardly counts.
Hell, why not let Meachem run back kicks, if they want a burner? They’re not giving him much playing time as it is. Then you can use Copper’s rightful space to sign someone who will help you on the D line.
But I voted “doesn’t really matter” because he probably won’t even be active.

Preseason doesn't count...
especially the 4th one. However, I think is speed is valid. Maybe PayLoo sees wholes in the kick coverage that PT isn’t fastest to get through. Don’t get me wrong, I am PT fan but he isn’t the fastest guy out there. I think Henderson has lost a step and I think Meachem is a valid 3rd WR. If he can burn through soe holes and take a couple back for 6, then this was a good move… if he basically has the same results as PT, PayLoo should cut their losses early.

Yeah, but...
…poor Copper. He did his best, and it wasn’t good enough. What that has to say is that Copper was the weakest member of the team, which I don’t believe is the case. That fellow Brees, for instance…he threw several straight incompletions last week. Where’s the outrage?
