Rumor: Saints Cut Weatherford
Though he’s still listed on the team’s online roster, a league source tells us that the Saints cut punter Steve Weatherford after Sunday’s loss to the Panthers.

Total BS
There is something else to this story. Has to be. Weatherford is the holder for the kicker, too. This could really mess things up.
Todd Sauerbrun is available. Weatherford is better than he is.
Like my wife said, “Their new punter had better have a passport.” For London.
like Kevin Costner said to Tim Robbins in Bull Durham
Hit the mascot. Trust me. Just plunk him.
Payton just hit the mascot. will it prompt the other players to action?
I think Payton is losing his grip on reality
After that abortion of a game he called, he wants to make Weatherford the scapegoat?
here's another punter
After his spectacularly Garo Ypremian-like performance today, Minnesota’s Chris Kluwe should be available.

My money is on Plackemeier
Minnesota Star Tribune.com:
These are the 4 punters the Vikings tried out in an effort to scare Kluwe:
The list includes Adam Crossett (Missouri), Glenn Pakulak (Kentucky), Sam Paulescu (Oregon State) and Ryan Plackemeier (Wake Forest). Here’s a look at the four.
– Crossett: A four-year letterman who appeared in 39 games as a punter and kicker at Missouri, he signed with the Colts this spring.
– Pakulak: He was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2003 and has had stops with the Steelers, Falcons, Titans, Bears and Raiders. He was released from Oakland’s practice squad in September.
– Paulescu: Originally signed by the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2007, he was let go before that season. The Vikings are familiar with Paulescu. He punted five times against them for Denver in the 2007 regular-season finale.
– Plackemeier: He was drafted by Seattle in the seventh round of the 2006 draft after winning the Ray Guy award for his punting at Wake Forest in 2005. He was the Seahawks punter in 2006 and 2007 but lost his job early this season after one regular-season game. He had missed much of training camp recovering from pectoral surgery.
Ryan Plackemeier

He’s no Weatherford but I guess he’ll do.
Manchester United Tryouts!!
i’ve been thinking about this- could be one of several things (or a combination). 1) Weatherford could’ve said something- like one of the things we have been all saying like “Payton has his head up his …..” or something of that nature, or 2) it could be one of those " he signs, she signs, he resigns, he gets cut, he resigns etc etc. 3) or they could ahve been thinking about this for a while and have someone waiting in the wings. However, I hope we find out- would like to know if our Head Coach is totally melting down here. He seems a little unstable lately. Especially with a left footed rookie kicker who now has to adapt to a new place holder on foreign turf (literally). I hope they thought this over otherwise you might see one of the mid-fielders for Manchester United now punting for the Saints!!!
Did I miss something yesterday?
I watched the game like every body else and saw a bunch of sh*tty exacution from coach all the way through the whole team but, for the life of me, I can’t remember Steve f*ckin up. Did I miss something or did he just become the whipping boy?
He kept hitting short punts, but I didn’t think it was anything to get cut over. I guess you make a 40 yd average or you hit the road.

weatherford was one of the best players on the team
seriously. This is flat out stupid.
Plus, who else has a punter who is badass enough to have tats?
Sean Payton is sending a message
to the offense. NO MORE PUNTS!!!
It sounds like the wheels are coming off!
This makes no sense. After watching as much as I could stand of that so called “game” yesterday, I’m finally at a point at which thinking about it doesn’t make sick. Weatherford can’t be blamed for anything. I wonder if Payton tried to take his frustrations out solely on the punter yesterday only to have the punter jump right back into his face in defense.
Go Saints!!!!

Ask Deuce
Jeff Duncan with the Times picayune was interviewing Deuce when Weatherford came up and said to Deuce “I’m heading back to N.O., I’ll call you when I get home”. Weatherford is still avg 42 yards per kick. I did not see anything yesterday. Don’t you want the kicks to land somewhere less than the 20, but not in the endzone(which he did 3 times)? There has got to be more to this story.
