Tracy Porter Out for Season
The Saints have placed starting cornerback Tracy Porter on injured reserve, ending his first season in the NFL.
Saints Coach Sean Payton said Tuesday in a news conference that Porter needed surgery on his right wrist, which he dislocated against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night. Greg Bensel, the Saints' vice president of communications, later confirmed that Porter was placed on the season-ending injured reserve list.
I hate to be the bearer of even more unbearable news. Sorry guys.

Can it get any worse!?
Aaron Glenn is currently injured, McKenzie is recovering from major knee surgery sustained only 10 1/2 months ago, both Gay and Young are injury prone, and Jason David….well his problems we all know too well. I’ve never believed in curses or voodoo, but now I might start. They’re going to have to bring in another CB and we don’t have enough valuable 2009 draft picks to trade for anyone good. This far and beyond SUCKS!

Why IR?
This doesn’t make sense to me, unless the injury is very significant. It’s not like a serious leg injury that can keep someone out for a long time. It’s a wrist injury. Cornerbacks have many a time played with hand injuries—like Fred Thomas against the Cowboys in 2006. I know, I know, he wasn’t very good. But, why out for the season? Maybe they’ll explain further later or someone prematurely reported this to the media. Or maybe I’m just kidding myself about the possibilities of the Saints turning this season around.

They need the roster spot
They’re so thin everywhere else, I don’t think they can make a cut to open a spot. By putting Porter on IR now, they’re opening not just a roster spot, but his roster spot. Maybe they’re announcing to the world that they’re in the market for an immediate replacement at corner. I wonder what the Eagles are asking.
Reality has just punched me in the stomach.
We’re not going to be able to overcome all of these injuries.
What now?
Told you all. We should have done some voodoo and sacrifice a chicken to the football gods. After yesterday, let’s make it a fat panda!
Weird thing is that our present injured players weren’t the one we were worried about, except maybe for Shockey, on opening day: Deuce situation was brillantly (there, I said it) handle by Payton. I even agree with not throwing him to the dogs against the Vikings D-Fence run and let him keep his confidence, health and huge motivation for next week. Vilma had a perfect progress schedule coming in and isn’t a worry anymore. MacKenzie is that close to being a Superman coming back from ACL after roughly 8 months. Brian Young overcame knee injury and life-threatning disease…
But Ellis, Colston, Porter, Arrington, Gay, Usama, Patten and Shockey? Where did that come from? Most of my buddies are yappin’ about how every team deals with injuries but considering are luck, I’d still try the panda …By the way, did anybody notice the ridiculously long injury report at the bottom of the screen on yesterday broadcast?
I stil think we have a 3 year window to get to the promised land. Just not quite sold on getting there this year.
I miss Jeff Faine…
In the long run
this could be the most significant outcome of last night’s game, Porter is a player and makes a huge difference. Now, not only do we lose him, but we get more of Jason David (which might be worse).
