Saints place DT Brian Young on IR; activate TE Buck Ortega

New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Sunday that the team has placed defensive tackle Brian Young on the reserve/injured list. Taking his place on the roster will be tight end Buck Ortega, who was signed from the Saints’ practice squad.

We need to cut the cord

with a lot of these players who are constantly injured. Young has played well for us (when he’s played), but this havoc with the roster has got to stop.

I don't know the details of Campbell's injury

but there’s been some talk that it might be the end of his career anyway.

But, yeah…a player that can be absolutely relied on to not give us a full season, doesn’t warrant a roster spot. Players like Deuce or Mike McKenzie, who have lost significant time due to serious injury, are one thing; but players who are constantly tweaking ankles or hamstrings or quads and going out two or three times in a season for half a dozen games in total are not the kind of players you can build a championship team around.
