Some D-line help?
With the lack of a pass rush and possible suspensions coming up, should the Saints go after the recently released, former Packer, Defensive lineman Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila (KGB)?

I know he's getting up there in age and has only 1 start and half a sack this year, but, with the possible loss of Grant and Smith, do we need the extra depth on the D-line? Back in the day, this guy was a stud defensive lineman but I don't know what he's been like lately.

rotoworld.com:
Packers released DE Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila.
A stunner. This is a strong statement about KGB’s declining skills considering the Packers are short on the defensive line and will still pay the nine-year veteran his complete $6.1 million salary. Gbaja-Biamila has been one dimensional in recent years and struggled to recover from off-season knee surgery. The move could mark the end of his career, which was all played for the Packers. He has the franchise record in sacks with 74 and a half. DT Justin Harrell was activated in his place.

Sign him
I say sign him for a game. Now, I don’t know the ins and outs of the financial side of it- if it costs millions, then I guess it’s not worth it. But, if there is any way to try him for a couple of games at a bargain pricem why not? Our defensive ends have never even come close to being the player he was in his prime. and they may get suspended. I think we have to do something. any I hope the coaching staff were watching some of the games this weekend. A lot if defensive coordinators help their team by disguising packages and faking blitzes and also send blitzes and it can be quite helpful. Gibbs doesn’t seem to work that way.

9.5 sacks last year either way you look at it
Last year KGB had 9.5 sacks. Although that doesn’t get you to the pro bowl, it might get you Saints DL MVP honors as last year Grant had 2.5 sacks 6 sacks in 2006. Will Smith had 7 last year. My math tells me that KBG had the same amt of sacks as Grant and Smith combined last year!!!! And people said he was washep up. If that’s truem, what does it say about Smith and Grant? Although I know that KGB may not be the player he used to be, it is obvious to me that if the Saints want to find the one single thing to turn their season around, and after this past weekend it is looking pretty desperate, they need a pass rush. A pass rush will ‘t make the defensive secondary better, the linebacker play better, and even help the offense. I am serious that I don’t know if I have ever seen a lamer pass rush. Even bad teams with poor records just say screw it we are going adter the QB and maybe we can knock him out and change the game. But, the Saints just do this lame no-pressure defense over and over and the opposing QB must feel like it is practice with all the time in the world to pass. They don’t even bat passes down.
I certainly am not sure if KGB can help, certainly he wouldn’t be 100% of the answer to defensive problems, but the Saints desperately have to do something, anything, to help the defensive pass rush. if it means safety blizes or corner blitzes or signing KGB and Michael Strahan, or threatening to cut Smith and Grant or any other idea I think they should go ahead and do it.
I don’t know how you reward 2 DEs with huge contracts after they posted 13 sacks between them last year.
And I also think if you are a DE and you are in need of taking Star Caps to lose weight to have a faster move to the QB, well then something is seriously wrong.
Without an improved pass rush the Saints not only will miss the playoffs, but will have trouble moving out of the NFC South cellar. And this is a team with a HUGE amount of talent on both sides of the ball. Maybe more than I have ever seen before on a Saints roster.

What does it say about the Saints coaching staff
that they have all this talent, and are a .500 team? Since their 5-1 start in 2006, they are 17-19.

Fine, if...
If he’s willing to play for vet minimum, or pay-as-you-play, then fine, we can use him in a similar manner to the way they use Abraham in ATL. If he’s going to want big bucks, no thanks. He ain’t worth major money.
