KC trip
It all starts with the tailgating!
Hey hey everybody...
Just got back from KC yesterday. Have to say was quite the trip. After a fairly pain free 13 hour drive we arrived at our hotel in KC. As we were checking in, a few guys were commenting on the Saints Jersey i was wearing (my Brees jersey i designated as my driving jersey for the trip). One of the guys made a comment that KC was going to lay a beating on Drew. When asked to elaborate, he said, have you ever heard of #72, to which i replied "of course, we were attempting to trade up in the draft for a crack at Dorsey". To which he further replied "well have you ever met him, cuz there he is". My buddy Clint got a pic with him. This pic does not do Dorsey justice. The guy is huge. Apparently he had rented a bus and brought his family and friends down and coincidentally they were at the same hotel as us. Nice guy. I have a new found respect for QB's!
Tailgating was how we started off the day, we had drove a long way so we didn't bring a BBQ, but we did have more than enough beer to offer around. Parked beside a couple from Wichita who were super friendly and offered to share what they had brought to eat. Played some version of a bean bag toss game and just hung out. BBQ steaks and beer. Nice. That is until Darth Chief showed up and started whacking me with his light saber to the amusement of those within sight.
After a few hours of mingling with the tailgaters and drinking, we headed into Arrowhead for the warm-ups.
Me trying to get back to my seat. During warm-ups if you leave you are replaced in a blink of an eye. I took tonnes of pics, but just thought i would share a few action shots from the seats. Unfortunately, Deuce's diving TD was at the other end.
Thigpen looking worried.
LJ Trying to get outside.
Another big stop by the D.
Pierre Thomas rushes one in.
Me and the pregnant missus. The comments she was firing at the Chiefs fans made me glad she is preggo and couldn't drink. It would have been ugly if she was looped. Good to note the Shockey jersey did not get stretched out at all over the baby bump.
One last shot. Pretty impressive catch by Bowe. Usama has apparently zero vertical!

It was a hell of a trip, met a lot of super friendly people. The only downside to the trip was that my car died in Ames, Iowa. The main reason it took me so long to get back. Had to sell the car for salvage and rent a car back to Canada.

Darth Chief?
All apologies to that dude with the light saber, but that has to be the gayest looking fan outfit I have ever seen. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. The Darth Vader thing seems to work well in Oakland where black is a team color, but in red at the Chiefs doesn’t really make sense to me. He must be a huge Star Wars fan. I guess “the force” wasn’t with him or his team this past Sunday.
Thanks for the pics and story, Grumps. Sorry to hear about the car though. I know from personal experience how much it sucks to have your car break down many miles from home.
Go Saints!!!!

Really good pics and great writeup! I saw a few of the beanbag games going on, they seem to really like it.
I think the benchmark is the Super Saints, the guys in helmets and tights with the fleur de lis headwear on their crotches. Darth Chief = more gay

Great pics!
Guess you told Dorsey I was so glad we picked Ellis instead of him cause he doesn’t look too happy…
Great post Grumps and congrats to you and your wife for the future baby boy. And feel free to go by Montreal next time you go for a Saints game. I could chip in for auto repairs.

SWEET PIX!
Thanks for sharing those with us, Grumps. I enjoyed them all, and the action shots at field level are awesome – as good as the ones the AP takes.
That truck with the Saints and Chief mannequins in the first picture…was that what you were driving in your Brees driving jersey? If so, how’d those guys stay on when you were zoom-zooming on the interstate? (Ha!)
And if your boy doesn’t want to actually play for the Saints, maybe he can replace Jim Henderson on the radio broadcasts in 20+ years…(or take over Da Chronic when Dave retires).

Maybe he can be defensive coordinator
…next year.
Fire Gary Gibbs unless the Saints win all the rest of their games and go to the playoffs!
