Around SBN: This Should Encourage Juan Mata

Random Gameday Thoughts

Today is the day Adam comes into town and I fulfill my half of our bargain. He should be coming into town later this afternoon. After work I am gonna head downtown and meet up with him as he chats with Saints fans and researches the Saints tailgating experience. After the game I plan on hanging out with him while he probably hits up Bourbon Street and interviews more Saints fans. I am very excited about showing Adam around and teaching him all about the Saints, the Dome experience, the city of New Orleans and all of our culture that make it unique. Because I might be out late I probably won't be able to give you the immediate, quality Saints coverage you have come to expect. I will try and put up pictures at the least for tomorrow morning. If you're in the area and interested in meeting up with Adam, email me and maybe it can be arranged.

Last night I went to pick up a friend of mine who lives in the Marigny. On the way back we drove past the Dome and I noticed there were quite a few RV's and cars already parked in the lots around the stadium, presumably Packer fans. I am pretty impressed. They travel well. I am expecting a large Green Bay turnout.

With the looming threat of a 4 game suspension, an ever limited role in this offense and a large raise in salary due him next year, many people are predicting this game to be Deuce McAllister's last in front of a New Orleans crowd. If there is any truth to this then it will certainly be a very sad day. Deuce also needs only one more touchdown to set the Saints all time record for most touchdowns. I will watch him very closely tonight and make sure to soak in my last (possibly) memories of D. Mac. Hopefully he will figure heavily in the game plan tonight and rush for over 100 yards with 2 scores. That would be a great way to go out at home.

I still can't believe that whole "crap on Benson's cars" story. What the heck is up with that?

If we don't see a lot of Deuce tonight hopefully we will see a lot of Pierre or maybe even Reggie. A balanced offense with a successful and consistent ground attack will be key. Maybe someone could actually gain over 100 yards in one game. The Packers secondary makes me very nervous and Drew Brees will have a tough test tonight so I would rather not have to put the game entirely on his shoulders. This also means not getting down early. A fast start would be sweet.

Tonight would be the perfect night for Shockey to finally have a breakout game as a Saint. I'm sure he is thinking the same thing.

Reminder: Open Game Thread starts at 6:30pm CST tonight. Be there!!

Reminder: If you haven't made your three predictions for the game tonight, be sure to do so here before kickoff!

Tonight we will see the 2008 Saints

I have a feeling that as goes tonight, so goes the season. Thus far, we’ve been the Sybil of the NFL: nobody knows who’s in the same stadium when they’re playing the Saints. But tonight is when we enter the final stretch, and the team we see in the Dome against the Packers will be what we can expect for the rest of the season. It’s going to be 11-5 and the playoffs, or another 7-9 disappointment so bad it could strip the paint off your car (if you’re Tom Benson, that is).

My car! What's that on my car?!
