Sources: Bush out for Monday night's game
Despite reports all week pointing to the return of Reggie Bush after practicing all week, Saints players told FOXSports.com that Bush actually sat out Sunday morning's walk-through practice and will not play Monday night. Bush's knee is still too sore for him to return to full action yet and the team has decided not to push him back too early, the sources said...
...In his place, Pierre Thomas will get the nod and recently signed Mike Bell will also see significant action.

ESPN’s Suzy Kolber reports that the Saints will work Reggie Bush (knee) out before Monday night’s game before deciding whether to use him.
All signs point to Bush being among New Orleans’ eight inactives, but the Saints will make sure he’s incapable of helping them before sitting him. Pierre Thomas is expected to start and be backed up by Deuce McAllister.
"Coach Payton REALLY needs to string together some wins."
you beat me too it...
I was literally about to post the same quote. Dude is begging Payton to play and Payton is open to it but some of the other staff don’t think it’s a good idea.
Mike Bell, huh?
The Saints are in bad need of a spark right about now. Might Bell be the one?
Ehh, probably not, but as long as we’re hoping why not get specific about it?
On our way to 11-5!
What, I get no credit?
72-90 - TIMMY FOR CY YOUNG!!!
Adopted Giant: Daryl Maday - The roller coaster ride continues - Augusta to Norwich to San Jose, the latter of which has been a success so far. 1.59 ERA.
If Pierre does it tonight...
Then he’s earned it from me. You guys know I’m still not sold but if he brings it tonight then I’ll be more inclined to believe in the guy. Won’t be 100% but he’ll earn his keep from me…
Here's the scary part
We scored 51 points without Bush and a limited Deuce. If we hur’up and get this D together we march into the superbowl undefeated, I mean really!!
Pierre is solid...
he really is. But, I also noticed the Saints using a zone blocking scheme last night. And they used it last game too. Up until then they weren’t doing that. So, I’ll say PT is taking Deuces spot for sure. Can’t wait to see what happens when Reggie gets back. This team is sick on offense—too sick!
Details, please
What do you watch for to analyze a blocking scheme? I know what a zone blocking scheme is… but once the ball is snapped, it too often looks like a Chinese fire drill. It’s rare that you get a replay showing blocking details (not exciting enough), so what do you watch for in real time?
On our way to 11-5!
Sure...
usually when you see two blockers trying to block one man then one of them leaves to hit a defensive lineman, its a zone blocking scheme. They actually talked about it during the game during one play. Its not man to man its more of an area that they have to open up. So me and you might block Saintsnational together but then I notice stujo4 lurking back there so I leave you with Saintsnational and go block him while BigTmill hits the hole. I usually notice it when I see two men blocking a dude and maybe a dude on the right is loose but he’s so far from the play it doesn’t matter—plus he has to get around the other men that are getting blocked which kind of works as a block in itself. That’s the best way I can describe it, if that even makes sense.
exactly my point stujo...
not trying to take anything away from the dude. He’s solid, but I wonder what Reggie would’ve done. I looked at the carolina game where bush had a big run and they used it there too. Anybody know what is avg. ypc was before he got hurt that game? It was 6.1. So I’m looking forward to the tampa game. If he’s 100% he’ll look really good. But again I really was impressed by Pierre. He’s a solid back, I give him that.
I wonder...
if the problems with our run game this year have been partly with the line struggling to master a new system…and it’s starting to click finally. Have you noticed a zone blocking tendency in earlier games?
Up next: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers meet the buzzsaw...
i'm trying to look at video and see...
It does take time to perfect that’s for sure. It’s more reliant upon speed and precision rather than strength and stamina.
