Perfect Scenario

An embarrassed Packers team w/ something to prove get back to the friendly confines of Lambeau Field and beat the Panthers, who are 2-3 on the road.

In a must win game at home to keep their hopes alive, the Chargers snap a 2-game slide to beat the Falcons, who are also 2-3 on the road.

Saints beat Bucs.

Bucs          8-4    (2-2)
Panthers   8-4    (2-2)
Saints        7-5    (2-2)
Falcons     7-5    (2-3)

(Following week, Bucs at Panthers, Falcons at Saints)

How likely is this to unfold next weekend?

What's not to like?

Very reasonable, love it!

the saints can totally do it. i think we saw it last night. they are capable. it’s just a matter of them coming through. we’ll win the division. i can see it happen!

It's definitely all right there for the Saints to take

The key will be for Payton and the Saints to forget about this huge victory right away and immediately focus on matching up and performing well against the Bucs. This game looms even larger as a must-win than last night’s game. The Falcons are still a little inconsistent and I believe will definitely be beatable in the Dome. But still, a loss in Tampa may make that game meaningless, so let’s focus all of our positive energy on getting that win!

Go Saints!!!!

Satch, making like Dad/Coach...

Unfortunately, he’s right. I think the players get today to savor, and then it’s back to work.

Missed you last night on the thread, Satch. It was fun. Hope you got to see the game.

Loved the game!!

I watched it with some friends at a local sports bar last night and couldn’t get to the game thread. I actually loved this game more than the 2006 routing of the much-overrated Cowboys. I would have loved to have been in the Dome for this one. I’m not trying to rain on everyone’s parade today, but this Bucs game is frickin’ huge for us. Historically, the Saints haven’t performed well after a big win like this. I truly hope they find whatever way needed to buck that trend this week. They can definitely get the win this week and I hope they do. Age and injuries are starting to catch up with the Bucs and, if we can find a way to shut down Garcia and Dunn, we might be some pretty happy campers come Sunday.

Go Saints!!!!

Throwing three interceptions will shut down Garcia

Jeff Garcia is a good quarterback; but he’s not a great one. If the Saints’ D can play like they did against the Packers, Garcia will have the same kind of game that Rodgers did.

On our way to 11-5!

Good point

Judging by his demeanor at the press conference last night, I’m sure Coach realizes this and his mind has already started to disect Tampa, I think the concern would be w/ the players maintaining their focus through the holiday on a short week.

We don’t need to worry about #9, can’t say enough about the way he is playing.

"We are in the middle of the pack and this is the time team’s start to separate themselves. We want to be one of those teams," said Brees.

Then the next week...

The Panthers, desperate and embarrassed (much like the Packers the week before), roar back to life and defeat Tampa Bay. Panthers 9-4, Bucs 8-5. Then the Saints beat the Falcons. Saints 8-5, Falcons 7-6. In the last week of the season—no matter how many games the Panthers win—the Saints would have the chance to take the division lead with a victory in the Dome.

This assumes, of course, that the Saints win out. They wind up tied with either the Panthers or the Bucs, but win on better division record.

On our way to 11-5!

Props to MtnExile!
The Saints will win

Fear not. I have seen the future, and it is black and gold.

You told me the Saints would win this one and they sure as hell did! I admit I was skeptical before the game. I even stupidly picked them to lose in the “Pick Em” pool for the first time all year and wound up finishing dead last this week, which knocked me out of the no. 1 spot. Maybe if I keep picking them to lose, they’ll keep winning. I’d definitely be willing to sacrifice my chances of winning our little pool this year if it helps the Saints win.

Yep, those were my seats for the SF game.

Really hard not to be optimistic after last night’s explosion, but it is basically like a one game season every week from here on out, no more room for error, and you have to like our chances every game in the Dome.

Just another opinion, but this guys is predicting Saints get in, even w/ a loss at Chi-town.
