Saints 24 @ Bears 27: Prediction Results

Member Name Prediction Analysis

Philinwood

    1) Game is decided on late game field goal

    2) Divine intervention occurs and the Saints get 3 sacks

    3) Payton sticks to a balanced offense and Brees still gets 300 yards passing

pukenbowl

1) Shockey will score!!!!!!!!!
2) Matt Forte will be held to less than 68 yards on the ground
3) We will have a huge special teams game (blocked kick, or kick return, or turnover)

For us or them? No

MtnExile

1. Matt Forte limited to under 50 yards.
2. With no running game, the Bears are forced to pass. Not good: 3 sacks, 2 interceptions for the Saints D.
3. But Hartley, alas, finally has a miss.

SSreporters

1. Matt Forte gets at least 100 total yards of offense (rushing, receiving, etc.)

2. Drew Brees picks apart that inconsistent Bears secondary for a minimum of 300 yards.

3. The first team to turn the ball over will lose the game, and I think that will be the……Saints.

1) Final score will be: Saints 35, Bears 27 (here’s how – Game 1 of Payton v. Lovie in 2006 – 39-14. Game 2 in ’07: 33-25. Pattern is, each time we play, they score 6 less and we score 9 more. So the score would be 34-27. But since I said over at the Malbrough thread that the last TD puts the game out of reach, I had to come up with a wrinkle, so here it is: after JD recovers that 4th Q fumble from Forte and we score the TD to break the 27-27 tie, Payton the Gambler DRIVES the WHODAT NATION CRAZY and UP THE WALLS by going for 2 in order to go up 8. He runs the same play he did against ATL for the 2pt that failed, and the EXACT SAME THING HAPPENS during the actual play, but this time Payton has a challenge and a timeout in his pocket, so he uses it and the call is overturned, and we get the deuce.*

*Saints 29, Bears 27 when we score the final TD, and Payton goes for 2 (and all that stuff about it being the same play and everything is still true), but this time, Payton’s thinking behind going for 2 is…a Bears TD, XP and FG beats us, so he wants to preserve at least a tie in that scenario. Kinda reminds me of the Haslett days of 2-point conversions.

I voted for 619. David may as well have that PI call count as a TD.
