Is Mike Triplett just popping off or does he have the inside scoop?

From today's Times-Pic chat:

Anyway, the Saints usually avoid the huge mega-millionaire deals that can really keep you from signing any other players. Expect another offseason like last year, when they brought in Vilma, McCray, Gay (then Shockey late) and re-signed most of their own core guys.

It all depends on how they have these guys rated in their scouting department and if they really think they're worth breaking the bank. I know they love CB Nnamdi Asomugha, if he becomes available.

On Usama Young:

I'd say somewhere between "confident he will develop" and the cornerback position being "solved for years to come." ... I think he's shown some nice flashes, has good speed and athleticism, and they'd like him to develop into a No. 2 or 3 corner -- at worst a regular dime corner and big special teams contributor. But I don't think he projects as a future shut-down guy. They've been a lot more impressed by this year's rookie, Tracy Porter, and think he can develop into a full-time starter down the road.

Triplett drops these things off the cuff, very nonchalantly.  I think they're huge.  You can't get anything (much of anything) from Payton's press conferences, but he'll confide in Triplett??  Who leaves this info lying around in a fan chat?  I'm surprised and a little annoyed.
