We had better be vastly improved next year

Because otherwise, this schedule is a recipe for 6-10. If the defense gets better, we have a shot at 10-6 or 11-5, but overall it’s a much harder schedule than this year’s. Maybe a few of the other teams—the Patriots, the Cowboys—will continue to deteriorate, but I wouldn’t count on it.

Three years of deteriorating results is enough. Replace Gary Gibbs!

disagree

I rarely disagree with you M-E but I am going the other way this time.
There is no reason we cannot win our Home games. Yes we will lose some but we CAN win those.
And I can see 5 wins on the road.

So… we could get up to 13 wins. Not saying we will cause lets be honest. We are the Saints and we lose for no good reason sometimes. So say we go 5 and 3 at home. and at worst 4 – 4 on the road.

9-7 and out of the playoffs again.

But… Stand up and say THIS IS OUR HOUSE! and turn that into a 6-2 or 7-1 at home and bingo baby we are postseason

Actually...

…we could have a better record on the road.

next year looks tough

this year was our best chance as far as schedule- it really wasn’t that bad. next year will be harder, but i think we will be better. if we get a new DC, that is. that is one of the main keys…

PHIL!!! STOP IT!! SHE'S CATHOLIC! IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!!

Buddy, you’re gonna have to knock her in the head and drag her down to the river to get out of this marriage. Til death or termination of Payton’s contract do you part. Gibbs Gumbo is on the menu every night until the end of the era.

M-E WTF, Phil.... GA!

I know that an unrealistically optimistic point of view can be annoying. Pollyanna and all that. But the nattering nabobs of negativity are just as bad. St Louis can say they’re staring at 6-10 for next year, but not the Saints. Come ON!

I say we split with our division at worst, that’s 3 wins (and it should be more). We’ll beat Dallas at home. And the Jets and the Lions. That’s 6. We OWN the Eagles. Redskins have an ass kicking coming to them. Dolphins and the Rams. I think that is all reasonable as of today, 10 wins. What is wrong with you people? We have the #1 offense in the league. The defense and special teams will be better, I’m sure of it.

I’m not going to live my life being afraid we’re going to lose. If and you’re going to do it around me, you can expect to hear about it. Winners don’t think they’re going to lose.

If and you’re going to do it around me

That should be “If’n yer gonna do it ’round me…” It’s the Okie in me coming out when I’m mad.

Home's gonna be tough

but why can’t we play Chicago at home??? At least give us a shot at some 3 year redemption.

by BigTMill on Dec 23, 2008 9:48 AM CST reply actions

here is the reason
Implemented in 2002, this rotation schedules all teams to play each other at least once every four years and to play in every other team’s stadium at least once every eight years

Saints played the Bears for the NFC championship in 2006. Then the scheduling coincidentally happened that we had to play the NFC North division for 2 seasons.

In 2009, in addition to the six games (three home and three away) against NFC South foes, the Saints are set to play the entire NFC East and AFC East divisions as part of the league’s scheduling rotation.
Also based this season’s standings, the Saints will host Detroit and travel to play St. Louis.

This part is not clear to me.

FInish last you play 2 other teams that finish last.
Finish first you play 2 other teams that finish first.

We are last. Detroit and Stl are last so we play them

I am glad we play Detroit again but not sure I can get down to NO to watch it with my friend. I will start saving now tho :)

I really like this schedule...

Now what I have to do is figure out how I’m going to convince the wifey that we should move so we can get a place that will allow me to get NFL network. Next season is gonna be awesome!!! But it’s gonna be a long off-season.

Don't worry I got your back cuz...
