Saints Should Have #14 Draft Pick
The New Orleans Saints official website came out with their tentative draft order for the 2009 draft. They estimate the Saints will be in the #14 spot, sandwiched right between the Redskins above them and the Texans below them.
Thoughts? Will that get us the help we need in the secondary?

draft options
Based on what we do in free agency, I think we need to get a defensive end that can actually rush the quarterback consistently, unlike Will Smith. Obviously, there are other spots of need at safety because of the atrocities Bullocks and company commit on a weekly basis, but if we get a rush, that will really help. I’d really like to see us go after Houston’s Robinson at CB in free agency if they don’t franchis him. Brian Dawkins is also a UFA, but being from around Philadelphia, I don’t think he wants to play anywhere else other than Philly, and I don’t think they will let him walk. What does everybody else think?

if available
they should take
1. malcolm jenkins – tOSU
2. taylor mays – USC
3 .william moore – Mizzou
jenkins will probably be gone, but i think mays will be available.

First guy who brings up Lito Sheppard, gets it

Lito
or Usama…who would you rather have?

I’m thinking Usama. Seriously. One guy is days away from the end of his usefulness while being a malignant lockerroom cancer and the other has some potential to be a pretty good player, a second stringer at least. The truth hurts sometimes, guys.

Oh My God
Ed Reed is a thug.
Now Bob Sanders, he may look like a thug, but the kids love him.
Ed Reed is the new Lito Sheppard.

Probably going to have to take that back
Can’t find anything to support it. And it appears he’s a local guy. So OK, Ed Reed is not a thug or the new Lito Sheppard. But he is under contract at Baltimore until 2013.

word!
Ed Reed went to my high school and is from my town… not that I knew that at the time nor until I started following the NFL other than the Saints… but its cool none the less.

A bit of heresy
Just a little bit, mind you. It’s not like we only need defensive help. But supposing we cover our crying need for a good safety and better linebackers in free agency, would you guys consider drafting…a center?
Like Alex Mack or Max Unger?

With our first pick?
If we dont use this first pick on the defensive side I’d be pissed. If we MUST go offense in the first round, i’d say pick up one of these left tackles. Move JB to right side so he doesn’t get burned by the pass rushers every play.
