Saints run the same D method as the Bucs. Hmm.
"Gibbs has been at the forefront of a unit that has been criticized for its vanilla schemes. The Saints have favored a "bend but don’t break" approach. The Buccaneers’ Tampa-2 employs that method and it has worked well since defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin arrived in 1996. In New Orleans, though, members of the secondary still are getting beat — the club has allowed 53 pass plays of 20 yards or more."

I don't think this guy is saying we use the Cover-2, is he?
Bend but don’t break can be a facet of any number of defensive schemes.
When I think of bend but don’t break, I think of the Dome Patrol era when we led the league in points allowed for two years and were always near the top of the league in this stat. At these times we also had an AWESOME run defense, sacked the QBs a LOT, and had only an ok secondary.

Yeah, he did
For a year. I had forgotten that.
I think you’re right…he’s not saying we run a Tampa 2, only that we believe in the “bend but don’t break” philosophy. If I thought that the clusterfuck defense Gibbs runs was really meant to be a Tampa 2, I’d file suit.
