Shockey Rumors Continue

Just a quick post here.  For those of you still holding out hope that the Jeremy Shockey rumors are true, it seems they are just that, rumors. Two articles came out today debunking the myth that Shockey will be a Saint next season, or even that Shockey will be traded at all, regardless of his absence at Giants off-season functions. This one from the NY Post and that one from the Daily News.

The NY Post...

The Giants turned down the Saints - who reportedly offered a second-round draft pick plus safety Roman Harper - and general manager Jerry Reese insists Shockey is not on the trading block.

The Daily news...

The Giants have made it clear they are not shopping the tight end and that their best blocking and pass-catching player at the position would come at a high price.

And the Giants WANT him back.

Daily News...

"I hope he understands we would like him back," Manning said of Shockey...He is a tremendous player and he helps our offense and our team out when he is out there."

NY Post...

"Jeremy Shockey's been a huge part of this team,"[Shaun] O'Hara said. "Whether you like it or not, some of the things he does, he gets guys fired up. I'd much rather play with Jeremy Shockey than against him."

Note that we haven't heard anything from the man himself however. I will remain skeptical until he speaks. Just because his teammates want him, doesn't mean he wants to be a Giant. I honestly don't think Shockey wants to play for the Giants. He may not get traded to the Saints, but I think he really wants out of his current situation. If he wanted to be a Giant wouldn't we be hearing him say it, and not Eli Manning and Shaun O'hara. Whether he gets traded or not remains up in the air, but I sure would not want to be the Gaint's next season with an unhappy Shockey still on my team. He will definitely let you know he is pissed. I don't want to keep fueling the fire, but I just can't help but wonder why neither Shockey or his agent has come forward to say anything. Hmmm...interesting. This rumor can only be put to bed when Shockey himself says he is returning to the Giants, and until that happens, this speculation with continue.

And the mysterious saga continues...
