MCALLISTER STILL A SAINT!!!!

The Deuce (USA Today)

Here is the article, straight from the Times-Pic!

This comes earlier than expected, as tomorrow was the final deadline.

Deuce is leaving the scene of the crime, and is apparently leaving the country. Must be his honeymoon and he must have planned it around this whole situation. Congrats to Deuce. Enjoy your vacation.

What do we think!? Are we excited!? I am! This is big news, talk this one up!

And as a side note, thanks to Nola12 for jumping in on the diaries. That is exactly what this whole thing is about, and that is a great example of a Diary. Who Dat, Nola12!?

thanks and great re-sign

Geaux Saints and Roll Wave! (I saw that you are a Tulane grad)

I also think that the McAllister re-signing was a great move. It sounds like the Saints were able to keep him without forking over too much money. His veteran presence can only help Reggie Bush and the team as a whole. Good luck to Deuce, I hope that he will be able to stay healthy and continue to put up solid numbers.

Well worth it

Deuce has been a stand up guy since day 1, the front office definitely did the right thing.  Seriously, has there ever been a report of him whining or pouting?  I don't think so.  I really liked Ricky regardless of his personality disorders and it took me a while to warm up to Deuce, but he has been The Man all this time, probably the best thing about the Saints, definitely during the rough times.  26 is not really that big but he delivers some punishing hits on would be defenders, a real thrill at the goal line.  I hope he can heal quickly and contribute this year.  DEUUUUUUUUUUUCE!

It's a new deal for Deuce, not just the bonus

Saints, McAllister reach agreement on restructured contract

Deuce will not be sprung loose, not from New Orleans’ roster anyway.

The Saints and their popular veteran Deuce McAllister reached agreement Monday on a restructured contract, ensuring that the running back will return to training camp with New Orleans.

McAllister had a $1 million roster bonus due Tuesday but before paying it, the Saints and the running back reached agreement on a deal that will offer each side protection.

Should the 29-year-old McAllister return and play up to the level that made him one of the league’s top running backs, he will have a chance to make much if not all of the $4.7 million that he could have this season.

But if McAllister struggles to return to form on his two surgically repaired knees, the Saints will not have to pay him what he was scheduled to make this season.

Both sides thought the deal was fair, both agreed to it, and McAllister is expected to make it official on Tuesday.
