Who Would You Keep?: Cornerback

Cornerbacks_medium

It's that time of the week again (actually this is normally Monday's bit). Time to play coach. Payton that is. Which players would you keep at the cornerback position for the start of this season. You can choose four, five or even six I guess, depending on how many you think they will carry. This is a close race and the field is wide. Here are the choices:

  • Randall Gay
  • Jason Craft
  • Tracy Porter
  • Usama Young
  • Aaron Glenn
  • Greg Fassitt
  • Mike McKenzie
  • Anwar Phillips
  • Jason David
  • Jerametrius Butler

Tough one. Let's hear what you guys have to say! Extra points if you beat Stujo4 to the punch for first comment.

Cornerbacks

Mike McKenzie, Randall Gay, Tracy Porter, Jason Craft, Usama Young, and Jason David would be my guess for now. They seem like the top six at this point, but that could change between now and September.

Go Saints!!!!

McKenzie
Gay
Porter
David
Young
Hey, where’s Fred Thomas? Seriously. When did that roster change happen?

So long, Fred

Saints CB Fred Thomas is not expected back with the team in 2008.
Thomas, a starter for all of 2006, was rarely active last season. He turns 35 at the start of next season and could decide to call it a career.

Any chance for the Saints Hall Of Fame? Burned toast division? Seriously, Fred did have some good years (2002, 2003) and did make some good plays. 12 years in the NFL. I guess Tracy Porter got his number, #22.

we need to look at the corners and safeties together some have.the ability to play both.so a guy like david could make the team as either .it might be his better position.no,i will not take a shot at jason here, the guys got skills, but may be better at fs than cb. by the way ,whats the chance roach makes the team ,ithink 50 50 thats not bad

Aaron Glen

really…no one thinks Glenn is gonna make it? I think it’s either him or Craft? Craft’s been with us for a few years, I think 03 maybe 04? Don’t know if that will help or hurt his chances. Other than that if there are only five, which I think there will be
McKenzie
Gay
Porter
David
Young

Who would I keep?

Boh MkKenzie and Glen would be gone one due to age and the other due to the injury situation and age. Jason David, see you later.

I think that the for sures are:
Porter
Young
Gay

Those guys because there are two draftees and they realy like Gay.

other than that the last two or three spots at that position are up for grabs.

I would say that Butler and Phillips ar the favorites because they are experienced corners with not a lot of age to them. Fassitt may end up on the practice squad.
