David Jacobs dead, Matt Lehr off the hook?
The Dallas Morning News reports that the guy who named Saints center Matt Lehr as a big buyer of steroids was found dead in his home today, along with a dead woman and a gun. The article says Lehr's attorney stated that Lehr wasn't going to be indicted in Jacobs' distribution case anyway. Did we already know this? Is Matt Lehr worth more now to the Saints, or is he just a journeyman, spot player?

Lehr swings both ways
Times-Picayune: Lehr, 29, can play both guard and center. He chose the Nola over an offer from the Broncos. Lehr would’ve been a swing-type reserve in either place. Lehr didn’t start last season for the Bucs, but he did appear in every game. Nice to have some depth, as long as he pees clean.
it always comes back around to money
The A-P via USA Today.com- “Lehr’s attorney, Paul Coggins, has said the player hasn’t used banned substances since he was suspended for four games during the 2006 season while playing for Atlanta, and has since passed NFL drug tests. The attorney has also said Jacobs’ allegations are retaliation because Lehr wouldn’t pay Jacobs’ legal fees.”
Perspective
Umm, guys I hate to break up the party and all, but two people are dead and all you can think about is how it affects some backup lineman on a football team?
Pretty low man on the social totem pole
David Jacobs was a drug dealer. And a voluntary snitch, apparently in retaliation. His girlfriend had exceptionally poor taste in men. No, Matt Lehr wasn’t the only thing I thought about. But the facts are that Jacobs doesn’t deserve too much consideration. Latest news is that it’s a murder-suicide, not exactly an honorable way to go out. I feel badly for his parents.
