2007 Redux: Saints 24, Falcons 10

Yes!! Finally, the Saints get a W. And what a sweet one it is, defeating hated rival and division leading Atlanta. If this becomes the first win in a series of four straight wins just like the actual season, I am really going to be freaked out.

Star-divide

This is starting to get interesting. Deuce is a monster and shows no signs of slowing down. I am glad I let him continue playing because he is tearing it up. He is averaging, get this, 127.1 yards a game. This offense seems a little more run heavy than the actual Payton offense. Brees had a great game, completing a lot of his passes and spreading the ball around well. Sounds like the real Drew to me. Mare is still inconsistent, going 1/2, but the one he made was a 48 yarder. Vick also spread the ball around a lot, but Roddy White led all Falcons receivers with 66 yards. Vick may have injured himself during the game as Joey Harrington saw some snaps in this game, but he is not listed on the injury report.

That Saints still had a couple of turnovers and that needs to get fixed quickly. The defense again looked great, holding the Falcons to three scoreless quarters. The line continues to apply great pressure and recorded a whopping 6 sacks on the day. Hollis Thomas suffered a broken ankle and will be out for 9 weeks but his replacement, Rodney Leisle, tore it up and notched two of those six sacks. McKenzie had a pick off and seems to be having a career year. Penalties hurt the Falcons big time in this one.

This win was huge and with a Tampa Bay loss, it now makes the race in the NFC a little tighter. Next up is a weak San Francisco team with a 1-5 record.
