New Orleans Saints Release TE Eric Johnson
Again, per the Times-Pic.
The Saints have released tight end Eric Johnson. The eighth-year veteran has been unable to compete for a roster spot throughout the summer because of a lingering ankle injury, and he became expendable when New Orleans traded for Jeremy Shockey this week.
Johnson will be replaced on the roster by rookie cornerback Tracy Porter, who just finalized his contract with the team.
Things are getting crazy huh?

WOW!
I did not see that coming! After yesterday’s practice, they must be supremely confident that Shockey is fully healed and won’t have any setbacks.
Go Saints!!!!

I thought about this earlier today
He wasn’t able to practice, and his value was just too much up in the air. I am surprised that they cut him today rather than later. Maybe the thinking was he’ll heal up and have a chance to catch on with another team this way. And yes, I think they have a very good idea of how healthy Shockey really is. So who is #2? Miller or Campbell??
