BIG SED?
Hey guys if you are like me at all, you are VERY VERY excited about this year. Things seem to really be working in our favor. I can honestly see 11 or 12 wins this year. But im concerned about Sedrick Ellis. He could be a real valuable part of this make over defense. We are days into camp and I haven't heard or read anything. He maybe in Europe or something for all i know. Is he working out? Is he being a HOTHEAD!!??? Whats going on?? How are the Saints handling it? Are they making true efforts to get him in camp?? Yes i know that he has to be willing and ready to come on his own, but what do you guys think is really going on here in this situation? Should I be worried?

no worries
The Chiefs just signed Dorsey. Ellis should be in any day now. Anytime. Keep an eye on the rotoworld.com box down on right side.

From what i read he is allegedly waiting on the number 8 pick to sign so he has more bargaining power…and another report has the number 8 pick waiting for Ellis to sign…its coming down to greed of the player…the way the saints have been investing in the team this year i sincerely doubt that their offer to Ellis has been poor…i think he is just waiting out to get as much cash as he possibly can…I think we should go get Deuce or Marques to have a little conversation with this guy…
For his sake i hope he signs soon…and i think it would be an interesting turn of events if the number eight pick signs and it negatively impacts the offer he received initially…would serve him right…he will be a guaranteed millionaire regardless…he just better not open up his mouth and make any comments about how he loves the game and just wants to play…if that was the case…the guy wouldnt have missed 10+ practices in a hold out…

What Saintsational said
I’ve been feeling the exact same thing. It’s more the greed of the agent Ellis chose (Eugene Parker) than it is Ellis himself. Here’s a bio on him and a list of other players he represents:

We can only guess if the Saints made him a good offer, but I just feel that Parker isn’t doing his client well right now. This hold-out is getting frustrating.
Go Saints!!!!

yep
the guys coming out of college are experiencing tons of new things in the NFL and their lives too. The agents are explaining that this is a business and from what I’ve heard they explain that they are looking out for the best intrest of the player and the NFL doesn’t really care about them. Which is kinda true. But, the best intrest of the players is rarely holding out of camp. Agents don’t want to look stupid AND not get enough money for themselves too, so everybody waits around until someone else makes the first move and then they act accordingly. So could someone stand up and say “Hey, I wan to play and don’t care about 200 grand

I dont disagree that the Ellis hold out is in partly due to the agent…the agent gets the commission based on the contract…therefore in their best interest to make it as big as possible…but i think that it also comes down to the player…still unproven in the NFL saying “you are going to offer me how many million a year to play football?” where do i sign…

what gets me
I can’t imagine that the difference between #5 DT Glenn Dorsey and Sed’s contracts are going to be that different. Are they really holding out of camp for a big difference? Because we can sit here and talk about the millions they are getting and get really mad, and think these guys are all pricks. But if I’m a new guy on the block and they are talking about million dollar difference, I really don’t care who you are, that would make me pause and think about missing 4 to 5 days of training camp
But don’t think I understand the insanity involed in someone getting that much money for not doing anything. I think the league should try to do something to start the contract negotiation process earlier in the year, and keep rookie contracts under control. Both of those things would help aleviate this pain
