Monday Night Game in New Orleans
Good morning, Saints fans. I'm Gonzo, the guy in charge over at The Daily Norseman, SBNation's Vikings' site.
The reason that I'm posting this is because I need a little bit of information about New Orleans. It's the NFL city that's located closest to me (I'm an active duty military member currently stationed at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS), and with my Beloved Purple playing a Monday night game in town on 6 October, there's no way I can pass up the chance to head down there to take it in.
What I'm wondering is what kind of sports bars are down there in the relative vicinity of the SuperDome that could possibly facilitate a get-together for some of my site's readers. I'm sure it wouldn't be a HUGE number or anything like that, but just somewhere that a few folks could possibly meet before the game to BS for a bit before kickoff.
Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance to anyone that can give a bit of a hand!

I’m from out of town, I know nothing. But I have to tell my stories. We were in town for the Saints/Eagles game, and I think Chicago played at Seattle the next day. Wanted to do some touristy shopping, stopped in at some joint on Decatur Street, had a nice sandwich and a drink at the bar. The kitchen staff had the Bears/Seahawks game on in the back, couldn’t hear or see it but I could see them checking it. My wife goes “This is interesting, they all look like pirates”. Wife beaters, facial hair, tattoos, earrings, bandanas on the heads. One comes out and growls at me, “Well, we’re going to Chicago.” I thought Oh hell, do the Saints even have any cold weather gear? Anyway, I don’t know the name of that place.
The joint on the corner of Girod and Carondelet St is just nuts on game day, you’ll probably have to stand in the street. But everybody seems to have a good time.

I Know the Spot
I watched the Saints-Eagles playoff game at Tuckers Bar and Grill on 869 Magazine St. in the Warehouse District (about 10 blocks from the Superdome). The bar is wide open (which is hard to find in New Orleans), has many tv’s, pool, great food, and reasonably priced drinks. I had a good time there and would definitely recommend it as a good place to watch the game. Best of luck to ya, but geaux black n gold!!

Hey when ya’ll get here go to The French Quarter – Bourbon St…. lots of sports bars and places to eat. Make it an all day affair and don’t forget to go to Cafe du Monde and get some beignets. Everything you need all about 5 blocks from the Superdome. You can goto neworleansfrenchquarter.com for more info.
