Saints Sign Safety Schulters
You like my alliteration in the title?
Per the Times-Pic, the New Orleans Saints have signed safety Lance Schulters.
"I've just been working out, staying in shape," said Schulters, who has been out of work since last season. "I knew something was going to happen sooner or later. I just didn't know when. You know how this league works."
Not sure if this is going to help much with our secondary. Good to see yet another Hofstra grad on the team representing Hempstead, NY!

Gary Gibbs: "Coach, we really do need to get some depth in the secondary..."
Rotoworld:
Schulters, 33, has bounced around the past two seasons. His addition could be a sign that New Orleans’ isn’t confident in S Josh Bullocks’ health.
Let’s give Jason David a break for the rest of the day and pile on to Bullocks. Did we know he was hurt? Any Bullocks haters out there?
why?
Bullocks needs work true, but putting with with a CB as useless as David just doesnt help him.

This is kind of like the old chicken and the egg question.
Does David look worse because Bullocks is such an inept Safety, or does Bullocks look bad because David sucks so hard? They both gotta go in my opinion…
A suggestion I've heard--
If McKenzie has lost speed due to his injury, but can still play, convert him to free safety.
I still wonder, though: WHY is there so often no safety help deep? I can understand if they’re cheating up to support the run, but the Saints weren’t that bad against the run last year. So is it the players that are at fault—or are these guys just innocent bystanders watching helplessly as our defensive scheme does a drive-by on our season?
WHO???
Who is this guy?? Wait, John Lynch was available for like a day, and we go for this cat?? We talked about Litto Shepherd, and we take this guy?? Ok, tell me for real, Payton is really an offensive coordinator in a head coach suite and Loomas is really the HEAD coach right? If Gibbs thinks this is the answer he is mo garbage then I thought. Come on now….
About Payton ...
sir, I myself have been bothered by this same thought almost since he was hired … what’s to be done? Hire Tony Dungy?
here's his profile
Once a premier IDP pick, Schulters’ career was highlighted in 2002, his first season in Tennessee, when he compiled six interceptions and two sacks to go along with 86 tackles. Now 33 years old, Schulters will do nothing more than provide depth to the Saints’ safety position.
a little more about him
He actually went to hofstra (a good 10 yrs ago). Hes bounced around a good bit after he got into the league (4th round pick). The teams that picked him up tended to do so when health problems arose. He was usually let go after whoever he was replacing was healthy again.
