"C'mon people," Saints quarterback Drew Brees said. "We haven't even started playing games that count yet. It's extremely unfair. We're talking about the first quarter of our first preseason game at home. The bottom line is we all need to improve -- offense, defense and special teams. We shouldn't be hearing boos, especially at this time. We should be hearing encouragement.
"(Fans) should trust our team and our coaches to do the job that is expected of us..."

What a great leader Brees is, and that's what you want out of a QB
I don’t know anyone who does not like him. Quite a guy.

I Agree
I love the guy and I’m oh so glad he plays for the Saints, but he has to realize that Saints fans have longed for a team to be proud of and a championship for decades (I’d love just a NFC championship if we could get it). Drew is obviously a bit clueless when it comes to this point. I wasn’t there the other night and I have yet to see the first half of the game, so I don’t know for sure the general mood of the fans during those boos, but I’d bet it was because people were sick of seeing the same old Saints story —great offense, pathetic defense. That always leads to a mediocre 8-8 or 7-9 season. I agree it was unfair to boo David specifically and I still can’t help but feel for the guy and hope he has some good plays or a pick this weekend to redeem himself. But, it’s the tickets bought for those games (mostly) that pays the player’s and coach’s salaries, so if ticket holders and fans want to express themselves by booing, then I say go right ahead. Maybe it was in part because of those boos that the coaches finally woke up to the fact that something more MUST be done to fortify this defense before the season starts. That said, we all still have to remember that several key players were out with injuries and two potentially key players (Vilma and Porter) were playing their first game with the Saints. I don’t think we have seen the finished product yet when it comes to the defense. It HAS to get better than what we all saw (or heard about in my case) the other night!
Go Saints!!!!
