Agree or Disagree?
A coworker and I have been discussing Lynch since the Broncos released him. There are arguments for both sides and it sure is intriguing. With the coworker, I fall on the side of "what does it hurt?" If he did make the cut, hopefully Lynch's agent wouldn't expect anything more than the league minimum for a veteran.
Where are you September 7th???

DISAGREE!!
Never mind that I never liked Lynch. Here’s what rotoworld.com has to say about him, via The Rocky Mountain News and I happen to agree:
The paper calls San Diego a possible suitor, but Lynch wouldn’t get what he wants there: a job as a three-down starter. Lynch is 37 in September, but could still help somewhere as a box safety. Teams in need of a hitter include St. Louis, Washington, Philadelphia, and possibly the Jets. Houston is deep at safety, but may also have interest due to Lynch’s ties with Gary Kubiak.
If Lynch wants to continue playing (which he may opt not to do anyhow), he’ll need to realize what he is: a two-down player. The Broncos had him ticketed for that role, and he didn’t like it. Lynch is no longer an effective cover safety.
Saints @ Tampa Bay is probably not a national game. I’ll be at my boss’s garage watching on one of his flat screens. He’s got NFL Sunday Ticket!!

Disagree
I feel pretty good about Kaesviharn and Harper. Even as Yasinskas is suggesting the Saints pick him up, he’s acknowledging that Lynch “doesn’t have the physical skills he once did.” I don’t see any real advantage of acquiring Lynch and paying out whatever huge sum of $ he might demand. The Saints’ biggest problem last year was the D-line not getting enough pressure on opposing QB’s and cornerbacks who got exposed and victimized as a result. I like what they’ve so far done to address that problem and expect the defense to be much improved with the personnel adjustments they’ve already made.
Go Saints!!!!

Disagree
I actually believe we will see a much improved secondary this year with the same players. I know Jason David got burned worse than Atlanta during the Civil war last year, but the lack of a pass rush had more to do with that than him being a poor player. If, and that is a big IF,the reports coming out of camp are accurate and the addition of Ellis and the coaching of coach O have this group playing as well as the reports say they are, the opposing QBs are going to have fits trying to find open receivers. You can have every star CB and safety in the league on the same defense but if the QB has all day to throw then receivers will come free and make big plays. At least that’s my opinion

disagree...
If I remember correctly, Lynch’s biggest problem with Denver was that he wasn’t a featured back. I cannot see Lynch having a primary role in our defense. I think KK will own at that position and I like Harper. I think Lynch’s experience will help our young squad, but I can’t see him being happy in our defense.

We need his style of hitting, not him
We have enough problems covering the pass to bring in an aging vet who was released for that reason. Every secondary could use a hitter like he was in his prime, but Lynch’s best days are behind him. If our DB’s watched tape of him and got fired up to hit somebody, that would be okay. He may want to consider coaching at this stage of his career.

Is he any better...can he be any worse?
Well as we move from week to week in preseason we get a better chance to evaluate the need to add a player like Lynch…in my opinion at the league minunim there would be no reason not to bring him in to allow him to compete…if he can add value to the team and leadership and can become a part of the defensive scheme before the regular season begins then everyone wins…if he is found to have no value or is to slow…then he is cut by the time the season begins….Peyton will undoubtley be watching the wavier wire looking for help at the end of preseason…I think as sad as it is for us collective Saints fans we have had to suffer knowing that we don’t have the right players back there to support us through a season no matter how much we want some of these guys to suceed…if first preseason impressions are to lead us…Drew and the offense better be able to put up 30 plus a game…because people will be able to exploit our linebackers and secondary and there is a limit to what our new front line can provide to help them…I guess if you guys are like me…don’t you hate to get to the fourth game of the season again and teams are putting up 24 a game on us and then we still are at the same point we were in the offseason knowing that we have to make replacements in the secondary…I say begin to make them now…if Lynch could be a part of that…I say no harm at all in bringing him in now…don’t wait to see if he can make it later when we try to put out fires…And I think that goes for anyone in our secondary…we need to review those guys every week and if we find a guy like Glenn is going to get burned in the end zone with his hands all over somebody and pushing….then Headslaps a guy in the back of the head after a play….Peyton is he really the veteran leadership guy and someone you expect to be there when the season starts to cover for us?...We need to evaluate and make quick decesions so we are not patching throughout an entire season…or settling that players who can’t make plays or compete are just the best we can do…lets be proactive
