Colston out for 4-6 weeks...

New Orleans Saints receiver Marques Colston will miss four to six weeks recovering from surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb.

ESPN NFL reporter Chris Mortensen contributed to this report.

The injury, first reported by Fox Sports on its Web site, looms as a big loss for the Saints, as it costs the team a receiver who has gained more than 1,000 yards in each of his two NFL seasons. Colston had 98 catches for 1,202 yards last season and caught three passes for 26 yards in a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1.

The team, which has yet to officially announce the injury, will be counting on Devery Henderson and David Patten to step up in Colston's absence.

ESPN is reporting this.

my very first thought...

when I heard the news was “Meachem needs to step up!” I don’t think we are screwed with Colston out. I think we have enough weapons to do well… but certainly having Colston back will be huge as we get deep into the season.

Or the rotoworld.com widget, apparently.

Sucks bad!

I have Brady and Colston on my FF team. Now i’m the league laughing stock. :(

Is Meachem gonna step up? I picked him up.
