With Deuce apparently behind Pierre Thomas on the depth chart, he's basically insurance at this point. His long-standing role in the organization likely kept him on the team for one more year. I think it shows they have little confidence that he can come back and be RB1. It's Reggie at Special RB1 and Pierre as Workhorse RB1. A backup Deuce is still better than a Shaun Alexander, I guess.

Payton has yet to allow Deuce to play

Deuce hasn’t had a chance to prove himself. I don’t understand why Payton keeps holding him back. So far, he’s had two runs this season, both for 5 yards. That’s much more than Reggie usually gets when he tries to run between the tackles. No, I can’t yet accept that Deuce can’t be consistently productive. Payton should give him more opportunities or update us on his health and why he’s holding him out of games even after he participates fully in practices. The run game was a joke today. Was the Skins’ D-line that good?
