Here comes the bootleg, get ready
Denver has been successfully faking out defenses with their bootleg for years. Don't expect the Saints to be the first to shut it down.
The Saints defense is a little better, but it has a long way to go before being able to confound the Broncos' precision attack. In the first two games, their recievers have been getting open against some of the better corners in the league. The Saints defense forced only 2 punts from a dysfunctional Redskins offense. Brace yourselves for a long ugly day next Sunday.
The Saints are far from ready to stop a team that executes its offense as crisply as the Broncos. The play I fear most is the bootleg. I've seen team after team get suckered by this Bronco specialty, and I'm afraid the Saints won't fare any better. All of this pains me because I love the Saints, and I hate the freakin' Broncos. If their offense and our defense play like the first two weeks, we'll be in big trouble.
If anyone is going to the game, or has any contact with any Saints player or coach this week, make a big sign that says "WATCH THE BOOTLEG!" I'd like to see at least one play where Cutler rolls out and gets drilled into the turf by a linebacker who's waiting for him.

The bootleg revealed
I recently visited your great city and became a bit of a saints fan myself (a bit). But I’m a diehard bronco fan! I must say the bootleg is a very effective play for the broncos. They have not been using it in the first two games, primarily because we have been effective in the drop back pass. If your D can slow down the passing game, expect a heavy dose of running and the bootleg, otherwise, Cutler will just sit back and pick apart your D. Their are two keys for the saints. The first is the Brees/Broncos Secondary matchup. Especially because the Bronco secondary has holes and since this is a non-divisional, non-conference game, I would love to see them strengthen their weaknesses. Second, Reggie Bush can get some serious all-purpose yards against our special teams. Best of luck to both teams!

Two words for you...
Screen Pass
As a Broncos fan, my biggest fear against the Saints it the HB screen. Our LBs are fast but if they over pursuit and allow Bush to catch a screen and cut it back up field we will give up BIG YARDS. So when that happens, which it will, you can briefly smile and then go back to fearing the bootleg.

It should be a high scoring game...
… I just hope it’s not all by the Broncos. Seriously, I think we’ll keep up if Bush can find open spaces like Sproles did.
Actually, there was a bootleg in yesterday’s game that the linebacker from the Chargers was ready for. Of course the play will be famous for something else, the call by Hoculi. I have to give Norv Turner some credit. I would have sent my offense out there and had my center steal the ball from the Broncos’ center and snap it to Rivers.

"Cutler will just sit back and pick apart your D"
That’s not how it works. Mediocre quarterbacks pick apart our D. Really good quarterbacks rip them to shreds.
My only hope is that McKenzie and Gay and Fujita are all back for the game. McKenzie is actually one of the best corners in the game, which was part of Jason David’s problem last year—he was getting far more attention than he would have if the other corner was equally bad. And Fujita would have been the linebacker in Cutler’s face if that had been us and not the Chargers.
Come to think of it, considering how our first two games have gone, the Chargers-Broncos game might be a template for the Saints-Broncos. Saints barely ahead with under a minute to go, Broncos driving—can the D rise up and stop them? Deja vu all over again.

This is an intriguing game!!!
I’m guessing the final score will be about 52-49.
I don’t really know much about the Saints but it sounds like you’re saying your defense isn’t particularly stout. I know our defense hasn’t looked any good. So this might be a battle of who can get the ball last.
I can’t remember the last time the Broncos played the Saints…seems like it has been a while. Should be fun!

Fun for who??
rotoworld.com
Saints CB Aaron Glenn left Sunday’s game with a strained ligament in his ankle, and it will reportedly take a “little while” for him to return to the field.
On top of Jason Craft’s Tuesday release, the secondary already has injuries to Mike McKenzie (knee), Randall Gay (hamstring), and Roman Harper (hamstring). Fantasy owners of the Broncos already prolific passing game are in for another fun Sunday.

Well...
maybe with all the injuries our defenses will be about even!
Also, Broncos are on an offensive pace that would be very difficult to maintain. Shanahan and the Broncos hate the Raiders and Chargers and undoubtedly put an incredible amount of time into a game plan for both teams. I’d be surprised if NO gets that same kind of dedication. This week we’ll see the Broncos that we should really expect to see week to week. I think the offense will still be good…but I really doubt it can maintain the scoring pace they have so far this season.
So…hopefully it will be fun for both teams. It certainly will be fun for whoever comes out on top! To be honest, as a Broncos fan this is one of the games I saw on the schedule at that start of the season and had some concerns.

Best play ever
I hope our offense continues its dominance, and i hope the D can contain Brees. Otherwise, i like the saints and look forward to this game. Hope no one gets hurt!

Interesting discussion
I like all this friendly banter between Saints and Broncos fans. Usually, it descends into a lot of “My team is better than yours” crap. Since I live in Albuquerque now, I was hoping to drive up to Denver for this game, but that didn’t pan out. I’m not very optimistic the Saints can get the W this week against a dangerous looking Broncos team. It will definitely be a score-fest, but I think the Broncos will ultimately out pace us. Colston’s temporary absence has our offense operating on less than eight cylinders right now. Although, in the past it’s usually when I don’t expect the Saints to do well that they come out and find a way to win. I would gladly welcome that scenario this Sunday, if it happens.
Go Saints!!!!

Don't be surprised if Bush has his 2008 breakout game either!!!
On the other hand, I’m hoping that Denver’s defense has been humiliated enough at this point that they’re ready to play up to their potential. I doubt it…buy maybe.
Friendly banter is half the fun these SB blogs…I find it’s much easier to keep it friendly between unrelated teams like the Saints and Broncos than it is against the division rivals. But we still try to keep it relatively civil (with varying degrees of success).

Brees always scared me...
…when he was the QB for the Chargers. I think he’s proved they made a mistake by letting him go. I think this could be another shoot out. But I wouldn’t be surprised if Shanahan tries hard to re-establish the running game that has always been a Bronco trademark. Your front four will be a good test.
If this be Hell, let us make the most of it!
