Haslett a head coach again
Everyone and their mother expected Scott Linehan to get fired today and, big surprise, it just happened. It will be interesting to see if Haslett can turn the team around to any significant level now. I seriously doubt it, but I would expect the players to come out and play a little harder for him in the next few games at least, since so many were frustrated with Linehan and are welcoming the change. I bet Rick Venturi will be promoted to defensive coordinator, despite the fact that the Saints D was so bad under him during his last three years in New Orleans. Here's a LINK to the story.
I'd also expect Bulger to get his QB job back. This will be sorta like deja vu, only now Haslett and Venturi will be on the team they defeated in 2000 to get the first ever Saints playoff win. I've been waiting for someone to give Haslett another head coaching opportunity. After all, he can't be blamed for the 3-13, 2005 season as even last year's Patriots could not have done very much better under the circumstances they were forced to work through. Since I never had any real negative feelings for Haslett during his time with the Saints (I really liked him the first few years at least), I hope he gets some improvement out of his new team. They do have some potential there. It's too bad the Saints won't be playing them this season. I'd kinda like to see that--Payton vs. Haslett.

"Fiery"??? Haslett?? You mean like Jon Gruden??
Saw this in the newspaper this morning, found it online:
the winless St. Louis Rams opted for cool, calm, reserved Scott Linehan as their next coach. On Monday, they admitted their mistake and fired Linehan after four consecutive lopsided losses to open the season. Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett, a fiery type and polar opposite in terms of demeanor, was hired as interim coach

I never thought of Haslett as fiery. I don’t think we saw that. Payton gets more excited during games than Haslett ever did. Am I remembering him wrong? It would have been nice for Haslett to show some fire and go over to a smiling Aaron Brooks on the bench and chew his ass out. He just seemed to take it with a “We’ll deal with that later” attitude. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Haslett is a badass
Rotoworld.com:
New Rams coach Jim Haslett reportedly got in Joe Klopfenstein’s face Tuesday, challenging the 24-year-old tight end to “start playing like the guy we drafted in the second round.”
