A Few Words About Jake DelHomme
I know a lot of you guys have a warm spot for Jake, being a former Saint and from Lafayette and all, and that's fine.
But I never liked him. I don't think he's that smart and I think he'll lose the game for you. And I can't get that thought out of my head. And tonight he's giving it up to the Cardinals. 4 turnovers by Jake (so far). He looks terrible and I blame him for this loss.
I seem to recall someone here saying the Saints made a big mistake when they let him go. Oh no they didn't. I know he has had some success, but I just don't think you can win a championship with him any more than you can with Jeff Garcia, Steve DeBerg, or any of the McCown brothers.

Proven right
He looked like Aaron Brooks last night!! Did you see on one of the second hafl INT’s that he threw the ball WITH HIS EYES CLOSED??!!

You have to give Delhomme some credit- he's been to a SuperBowl and no Saints QB has done that.
I don’t think that very many people if any would want Delhomme over Brees. I think the issue is that we let Delhomme get away when he should have played in front of Brooks at the end of Brooks tenure ( or possibly earlier). Additionally, the guy did lead his team to the Superbowl and the second best record in the regular season
this year, undefeated at home in the regular season, and in general, even though he is not one of the elite “air it out” type of passers, he is usually one of the elite “game managers” and rarely turns the ball over multiple times as he did yesterday. He has had a good career in Carolina, especially when he has been healthy, and yesterday was pretty much an exception for him. I love Drew Brees and I think next year will be a great one for him and the Saints, but you got to give a lot of credit to Jake- they kicked our ass this year and he is exactly the type of QB that usually goes to the Super Bowl as opposed to a Dan Marino type. Managing a game as a QB and avoiding turnovers is more effective in the playoffs, he just didn’t accomplish that yesterday. Ironically, Warner managed the game better and he beat Jake at his own game.

Bad days for quarterbacks
Remember 1987? After the Vikings crushed us in the Dome 44-10, they played San Francisco. Joe Montana was awful—he was even benched—and the 49ers lost after going 13-2 during the season.
Now, Jake Delhomme is no Joe Montana; then again, the Panthers didn’t have another Steve Young to go to, either. It was Delhomme or nothing; so they kept him in there, and he made an even bigger fool of himself.
Steve Smith didn’t have a good game, either—an elite receiver ought to be able to get open, no matter what—but I don’t notice people piling on him. The quarterback is simply so front and center that he takes the bulk of the blame when the entire offense breaks down.
I’ve seen Jake Delhomme grab a game and drag it into the win column on pure will alone. I’ve also (now) seen him have a 6-turnover day. His problem isn’t that he’s not very good, but that he’s not very good consistently. And when he’s bad…ye gods, what a stink! Maybe they’d be interested in a trade for Joey Harrington?

Simply awful last night
Not just Jake, but the whole Panthers team. They gave up on the run way too early and their D got torched by Warner and Fitzgerald. As the last representative of the NFC South in the playoffs this year, I was embarrassed by them. I thought they’d at least make it to the championship game. I fully expect Carolina to draft a QB pretty early this year as the future of the franchise and possibly supplant Jake as early as training camp. He hasn’t exactly been lighting it up all season as it was the running game and defense that mostly carried that team. That was probably his last chance at a ring.
Go Giants! We need to talk to one of Philly’s coaches.
Go Saints!!!!

Yep
Jake picked the wrong night to suck….he did stand back there like a statue and forced tooooo much ,he’s not a runner but if he just climbed the pocket, or pulled the ball down and ran for just a couple yds a few times, then Steve Smith could have improvised on a broken play or 2, then running game would have had a chance ,whatever, its history, can’t say i wanna give love to the Kitty Kats,Cards D dictated that game, who knew they had one
