Albert Haynesworth available for a price
"ESPN's Chris Mortensen doesn't believe that impending free agent Albert Haynesworth will re-sign with the Titans this offseason.
Haynesworth appears headed for the free agent market at age 27. He's played his best football in two contract years, which will make him a sizable risk. However, for as dominant as Haynesworth is he'll be worth the $15-18 million a year he gets in a long-term contract as long as he's playing hard."

For contrast, Smith and Grant are making approximately $10M and $9M per year, disrespectively.

I think signing Haynesworth would count as a "big splash"
that Loomis just talked about not being something the Saints can do in FA this year (in the article in the Sunday Picayune that Saintsational quoted and linked to) unless they really sacrifice in some other area.
But that could just be hogwash and smokescreen so no one will know what the brain trust is really up to.

Cut Grant
The savings will pay for Haynesworth. Honestly: who do you think is the better player?

He got carried away
People do that. He also gave a statement later regretting the incident that sounded to me like the most heartfelt and sincere expression of regret I’ve ever heard coming from an athlete. None of this “I made a mistake” nonsense: he acknowledged that there was something that lived inside him that he had to purge himself of. That gains my respect. Americans like to talk about giving second chances; it’s sincere repentance that earns second chances.
That said, I haven’t really kept up with Haynesworth since that happened, and I don’t know what’s going on in the man’s life or in his head and heart.
Who is that person talking about beating those Saints?

yeah, I have a hard time hearing his name without picturing that scene of him stomping that guy on the head
Maybe one of our Times-Pic guys can dig up info on his emotional re-hab…

Get Haynesworth and dump a DE
Let’s get Haynesworth and dump one of our DE’s to be able to afford him. With Sed, Haynesworth, either Grant or smith (not both) and then fill in with Charleston, Mc Cray and maybe a rookie, I think that would work. H. Thomas a a sub and we also have Pressly and a few others- that’s the ticket!!

rotoworld.com:
Beat writer Jim Wyatt’s “gut feeling” is that the Titans will end up paying Albert Haynesworth a monster contract this offseason.
The Titans have until the free agent period begins on February 27 to make Haynesworth the NFL’s richest defender. The $74 million over six seasons Minnesota gave DE Jared Allen last April will probably only be a starting point.

rotoworld.com:
The Titans have roughly $35 million in salary cap space to work with this offseason.
That’s plenty to get Albert Haynesworth signed. Still, the Titans have to weigh the risk of committing a massive amount to a player that didn’t perform to expectations until contract years. Haynesworth also is banged up often.
