Sean Payton Gives Up Salary to Sign Gregg Williams

I was just watching FOX NFL Sunday's pre-game show. Curt Menefee was interviewing Jay Glazer as part of their "Glazer's Edge" segment. One interesting tid-bit that Glazer dropped on us before he left was the fact that Sean Payton gave up $250,000 of his own salary to make sure the Saints landed Gregg Williams when many other teams were interested in the defensive coordinator.

Actions speak louder than words and Payton put his money where his mouth is. This is really starting to get good!

Wow

I take back some of the stuff that I’ve said about Payton if this is true.

Payton has consistently

tried to improve the D through FA and draft.

This is taking it to another level.

yeah you right

For all of our struggles on Defense, it is not for lack of awareness of them. Unlike his predecessor – Jim “I like our guys at LB, even though they’re acknowledged to be the worst in football” Haslett – Payton has tried to address our weaknesses on D from the get go.

Now somebody get Vilma a good lawyer.

Well, I think it's going to Make It

rotoworld.com:

Owner Tom Benson thought Williams was too expensive, so Payton stepped up. Payton is desperate for a competent defense to complement his high-octane offense. Williams’ addition could make or break Payton’s legacy in New Orleans.

There’s a bailout coming, but it’s not for you.
