Will Smith Has Surgery
So according to my $40 a year ESPN Insider subscription that never tells me anything I care about until today, Will Smith had surgery to repair a sports hernia injury that "bothered him throughout 2008."
I had a hernia about a year and a half ago. It blew. After the surgery I couldn't physically stand up straight for like 3 days, and I didn't walk right for a week. It also sucked a lot before I had the surgery. I would LOVE to believe that this is one of the reasons he didn't give us any reason to nominate him for a "most production per dollar" award.
Does anyone know exactly what the difference between a "sports hernia" and a regular hernia is?
And for those who don't know what a regular lower abdominal hernia is (because I sure as hell didn't before I had mine)....it's when the abdominal muscle tears and leaves a space for your abdominal cavity to protrude through. They put a plastic piece of mesh over it and let the muscle grow into it. I still have to lift my leg up to sneeze or it hurts.

unfortunately
I think Smith’s suckage had more to do with crappy D coaching and a donut overdose, but I hope to be proved wrong. If you recall, he wasn’t exactly playing great a year and a half ago either.

is a sports hernia worse pain than a cracked rib? because in that bears game at the end of the ’07 season, pierre thomas had his huge game in soldier field with 2 cracked ribs.
i’d love to say “the team must see something in smith if they’re willing to pay him so much” but i don’t really trust this team that far. not after the last four decades of bad decisions. the most we can do is cross our fingers.

Sports hernia
It’s not really a hernia, it’s just called that because the symptoms are similar. What it is, I believe, is a tear in the muscles that attach to the pubic bone—so it’s more a leg/hip injury than abdominal. I had a groin injury once that didn’t fully go away for a whole year (not playing football—it happened when I stood up from a chair!). If what I had was actually a sports hernia, you better believe it could be the reason Smith didn’t perform well. It’s a wonder he could walk.
Oh when the Saints...Start kicking ass...You don't want to be in that number...

I hope it did
The defense would be better if it had the pass rush we’re paying for.

I hope it did, but I think it was more of one to many powdered donuts myself.
