Get this guy in Black & Gold

The Chiefs are down on DL Glenn Dorsey and may be willing to trade him, according to NFL.com's Jason La Canfora.

La Canfora says the new coaching staff didn't like Dorsey, the No. 5 pick in the 2008 draft. Like many other Chiefs, Dorsey landed in coach Todd Haley's doghouse when he showed up to camp out of shape and flunked a conditioning test. Dorsey has been coming around lately and giving up on him just 21 games into his career would be a very surprising move as the trade deadline approaches. He'd also be impossible to move with a contract including $22.5 million guaranteed.

I was wondering when someone would bring this up

interesting thought. I don’t see it happening, but it’s interesting.

I would love if that could happen

I was praying the Saints would get Dorsey out of the draft. I can’t imagine why KC would want to be rid of him, either. He is young, extraordinarily talented, and one of maybe five good players on that team. I guess they could be looking to get better in upcoming drafts, but that would be a loss that couldn’t automatically be made up with new draft prospects.

Sadly, he’s waaay too expensive for New Orleans, and we don’t seem to be suffering so much anymore at the D-line anyway, but that guy will be worth the money somewhere, if KC is stupid enough to part with him. Maybe Tampa? They are as cheap as they come right now, and have even less prospective talent than KC.

i never thought ellis would turn out to be the hands down no discussion better player at this point. my thoughts on how things turned out can be summed up by this video.

The problem with Dorsey

is that he was fed to the dogs at LSU. The guy spent half his collegiate career nursing injuries. A great prospect, no doubt. I just have to wonder how long of a career he’s going to wind up having, after taking that much physical abuse on the amateur level. It would be like trading for Tyrone Prothro, assuming the guy was making a buttload of money and could still walk.

LSU Products

Some guy on CBS sports I think made the point that LSU grads are notoriously lazy and bust-prone. He points to JaMarcus, Dorsey, Dwayne Bowe, Tyson Jackson, Michael Clayton . . . think he’s got a point?

On the other hand you’ve got Hester working his ass off out in SD and Matt Flynn holding the s*** out of those field goal attempts!

I’m a life-long Tigers fan and Dorsey supporter, but I’d think 2x before giving up something big for him.

yeah

While I love my tigers, not always great as Saints

They really haven't

had much in the way of top shelf production over the long haul at the next level in a while. Kevin Mawae is one of the few exceptions. Plenty of sparkle and fade, though.

Alan Faneca

or does he not qualify for “in a while?”

Good call. Corey Webster’s starting to come into his own now, too. I’m sure we’ll see plenty of him on Sunday.

true

webster is a very respectable corner. While I wouldnt put D Bowe in the elite category, he’s been at least better than average as an NFL wr.

As Dan says below, Devery is definitely legit.

Keep in mind, I did specify “over the long haul”, so really none of these guys apply. Except Mawae and Faneca, obviously.

Got Hurt

Senior yr. so he showed up,in the pro’s still hurt and was a huge (?). Some big guys don’t heal up quick, and was pressured to play immed. Too much cash to pay, and Saints wouldn’t be interested. Needs to loose some weight, and get a nutritionist, start over, time off with a lower price. Probably needs to get coached up, Old Chief regime was on the way out and this new one is worse. Or soon to be Raider…..too bad.

What about Devery Henderson?

Before you pick your Super Bowl winner ask yourself this: Can you name an offense that can keep pace with the Saints?- Jerome Bettis

Don't Know About LSU lazy Players

Saw a stat somewhere that LSU & USC are tied for first place with 41 players currently playing in the NFL. So,they must be doing a good enough job to keep coming back to the fountain of talent.

He really is a wasted talent on the Chiefs right now

He was supposed to be the next great UT, now he’s playing out of position as a 3-4 RE. His value is really low right now, but even as a 4-3 DT last year he didn’t do much, especially not enough to want to take on his salary.
