Saints Marching into Miami on High Horses?
According to J. Porter anyway...
I've been wrong so far but someone is going to give us some trouble. I'm really interested in seeing how we handle this Wildcat crap! I think Porter has got it a lil' twisted. Brees and Bush aren't the only problems he's gonna have. Our line is top notch buddy! Although he's right, the Buffalo game was kinda close for a while. But I'd like to see the numbers on Miami's defense right now.

Joey Porter = alligator mouth, canary ass.
Always has, always will.
If they take away the run, it will only happen by loading 8-9 in the box on every snap, that leaves 2-3 deep against Colston/Meacham/Moore/Henderson/Shockey.
I don’t know about YOU, but I kinda like those odds.

New Orleans is trailing?
Let’s see, the Dolphins manage to keep the Saints from scoring a touchdown the first time they get the ball and maybe the second time as well. The defense is slightly out of sinc against the Wildcat and the Dolphins are up by 10 or 14 points as the game goes into the second quarter. Sound plausible? It certainly is a possability.
So, as the game moves into the second quarter, Brees realizes it is up to him and his bionic arm (It’s a secret government project – don’t tell anybody ;) ). At that point, Brees and his boys start running all over the place. Since Brees had his right eye replaced with a laser guidance system to go with his bionic arm, he starts dropping “uncatchable” passes right into his receivers hands.
Bottom line is that even if the Dolphins are able to put the Saints in a hole and keep them there for awhile, it wont last. Just because we can’t run the ball for awhile doesn’t mean that we cant score points. The Dolphins secondary isn’t good enough to stop an all out blitzkrieg passing attack like Brees and Company can put up.
Once the Dolphins secondary is on it’s heels from the aireal pasting it is taking and the Dolphins start dropping their LB’s and other people to help out, PT and Bell will start running wild.
My prediction is that Brees and co will post 350 passing yards and PT/Bell/Reggie will run for 130 + yards.
Not only will Porter not get a sack but PT or Bell will run right over him for a touchdown!!

350 yds?
With not much ToP?
Thats a lot bro!
Not saying u can not put that type of numbers, but then again, then Miami can run 200yds with ToP of 35min
I will see the Dolphins win a SUPER BOWL before i die(22 years and counting)
ToP?
ToP is an over rated stat in my opinion. Just look at the Phins/Indy game.
There is no way that the Phins have that large of a ToP advantage over the Saints this weekend. I believe the Phins will have the ball more than the Saints but the difference in time wont be that extreme.
I expect the Phins to start out using a 2 deep coverage but all that means is that Brees will shread the LB’s, connecting to Shockey and Bush. Once the Phins deep guys start shifting up to help out the LB’s, Brees will drop a couple over their heads to Moore and Colston.
Since it seems like Brees throws the ball 30 to 40 yards downfield every 3rd or 4th pass play, it wont take to many of them to reach 350 yards. :)
The Saints defensive rating against the run will go down this week since the Phins are a very good running team but the Phins rating against the pass will plummet!!! Brees’s bionic arm will make the Phins secondary look like what they are: a couple of young players, who will be good (or even great) in time but are not up to stopping a world class passing attack right now.
As it was mentioned elsewhere on this site, Brees and his gaggle of frisbee-catching dogs will put on an airial clinic against the Phins’s very young secondary.

WOW!
ToP over rated! ok(?)
Abouit the game with Indi?, we were a TD cach drop from ginn from winning that game, but at the end a W is a W so sleep on the outcome of that game.
If Brees, in 5 posetion can have 350 yds, then ur running attack will be a NONE factor.
I got what u are trying to say, but…
P Manning didnt get 280yd, but brees will have a fielday with us, cause u ARE gona stop the Miami ground attack?
U r guesting that u r gona stop the best we do, so went i guest that we can do the best we do, that guest in a nonfactor. K! no discution on this side of the floor!
NO is gona stop Miami running game!( by horp the reckless)

Being that practically every person who knows anything about football considers time of possession the most important non-scoring statistic there is, I’d have to surmise that the odds are with you on that statement.

Force Henne
to throw,he’s inexpierienced to a point,Jets didn’t lay a hand on him last wk. Saints D will do their job.But for that to happen. need to get some stops on the Wildcat and get a lead….

Why u keep saying or talking about the WC?
Thats NOT the Miami primary rushing att!!
The WC is a formation that we use like 10% of the time.
If u wana be a ESPN blober and also wana say the Quin was the next Mesia at qb(by ESPN experts) thats find with me!
Ppl are affraid of what they dont know! but the WC is not a diff formation than the I, T, shoot gun, etc formation. Is a SIMPLE Rushing formation! Not a gimmick or a trick play!
U made a I formation and throu the balll, thats a trick play?
U make a Shootgun formation and run the ball, thats a trick play?
ppl we are talking football here!! Dont fall as a ESPN AH!!
I will see the Dolphins win a SUPER BOWL before i die(22 years and counting)

And honestly, you can’t really take what Porter says seriously. The guy is always talking…
But I feel like you guys are overlooking the fact that our offensive line is playing extremely well right now. We’re great in run blocking and our pass protection completely nullified the Jets’ “Blitz now, ask questions later” approach two weeks ago.
I know everyone wants to talk about the Wildcat, but honestly, I think it’s our offensive line that makes the Wildcat go. Last year, there was some trickery involved (lining up two tackles next to each other, qb lined up wide, etc.), but this year it’s been all about the offensive line blasting defenders off the snap and taking away the A and B gap from blitzing linebackers.
You guys are definitely right about the prospect of your receiving corps overwhelming our secondary. I can’t even keep track of all the wideouts you have! We do have an emerging star in cb Sean Smith, but he’s only going to be on one guy…
I think you guys have an amazing football team. In fact, I would even say you have the best offense I have ever seen. You make the ’07 Patriots look like the ’99 Bucs!
The last thing I’ll say is don’t underestimate Chad Henne. Rex Ryan basically laughed in the face of our passing offense and look where it got him and the league’s #6 pass defense. While the Dolphins will undoubtedly be looking to bleed your defense as much as humanly possible with the run game, you can bet they’ll going to be looking to send Ted Ginn Jr. on a go route at some point.
Can’t wait for Sunday. It should be a great game.

good points
this game worries me as much as the giants if not more. your o-line is very good (and underated imo). they are the key to the wildcat and no one runs it better than the dolphins. good luck should be a fun game to watch

U know?
Is not only the OL
The succes of the Wc is on the hands of RBrown and RWilliams, but more on RB, cause he is the qb of that formation!!
U can have a SUPER rb doing the direct snap, but the decision making while looking at what the D is adjusting, thats what make the WC a great formation, because of personale. U can do it and practice with it, but on game day, RB is a beast with the desicion he made on the field and the OL making the blocks!

wildcat and all...
I think it doesn’t matter… lets say we score first 7 – 0
wild cat runs a bunch on us and takes us by storm …CAN they keep up with Breezus & co?? seriously? …nahhh they have a bad redzone game, not horrid but not great…
im telling you Sharper will see right through QB rookies…. they are his Wheaties for sundays (poss. mondays)…
as i see it, we just have to stop them from scoring ONE touchdown, after that sharper will take care of throws, and our d just keep it competitive!!
TOP? who cares? if we can score everytime ( i think we can because MIA stink on passing d) on them, they will make mistakes… just, like, manning…
TOP means nothing when you are down… if they get down by 14 or more?… it only hurts them so I say bring on the wasteful clock running… because i am confident in my lord and savior… Breezus
i just wanna know when everyone in the NFL will stop waiting for our “crash” like seasons before…
Actually, a deficit of 17 or more is when TOP becomes considerably less significant in the first half of a game. You can overcome a 16 point deficit using TOP, provided you score each time you’re afforded a possession, score last in the first half and first in the second half, converting 2 pt coversions both times. Not that anyone in their right minds would go for 2 pt conversions that early, unless they just flat out could not stop their opponents. Just saying that beyond 16, that’s when you’d have to rely on some other means of pulling even. A forced turnover, an onside kick, a safety … something. Regardless, as long as your offense is matching your opponent tit-for-tat on scoring, TOP continues to mean everything. If they fail to, you can’t blame TOP on that. Quite the opposite, actually.

saints vs dolphins & prediction (talk radio)
My complaint is on the talk radio show . It seems to want to knock down the saints but the saints will win and win big time. They have played out doors against teams like oakland raiders and won ;played against the p. eagles out doors and won. Enough said about that so Saints58-7 and be 6-0.

Bro we are the raiders lol
U know what?
We are only talking about the WC and our poor passing D.
I will give u that, but try to look deeper on the passing D stats.
Hope u find something we havent told u ; )
I will see the Dolphins win a SUPER BOWL before i die(22 years and counting)
i agree!!
I wanna see that score board @ +50!
everyone is picking us for the win, it comes down to points… and that is just the most basic thing there is… can the wildcat whatever keep up with our brees +4?
go look at stats, i think it will be done!
Wildcat a little worrisome, but . . .
. . . I think I read that Miami is 30th against the pass? I think you can control the ball for three quarters and Brees can still put up thirty-some-odd points on you. Not to mention that we have a grinding running game of our own.
Again, (due mainly to unfamiliarity) I’m a little worried about the Wildcat, especially with Fujita out, but I don’t think that will be nearly enough. I also don’t think there’s going to be an emotional letdown on the well-grounded, veteran-rich Saints side of the ball.
On the other hand, if we’re going to go ahead an lose one this year, it may as well be in nice weather against an AFC up-and-comer.
FYI
Miami is ranked #18 against the pass, #3 against the run, and #10 overall.
Saint are ranked #14 against the pass, #5 against the run, and #9 overall.
Defensively, these teams are very closely matched, and offensively as well. The big challenge for Miami will be that they have not played an offense as balanced as the Saints yet. NOLA can run the ball as well as they do passing, that fact will put their defense on it’s heels a bit, and give the edge to NOLA.
I don’t see a blowout for anyone in this one, but I do think that the Saints take it, and by 10+ points in the end. However, they’ll have a fight on their hands to get there.

I agree
I have it 30-20 Saints. Can’t imagine it getting much more out of hand than that. Then again, I had the Giants winning in a squeaker last week, so you might not want to bet the farm on that.
"Paralyze resistance with persistence" -Woody Hayes
If Miami can get the lead and keep it
by running the ball, and I mean ONLY running the ball, they can win. But I just don’t see Henne winning the game with his arm. And in the NFL it’s just really hard to win the game ONLY on the ground. If you don’t believe me, ask Adrian Peterson about last year’s game vs. the Saints when our defense was no where near as good as this year’s and we stopped Minnesota’s running game (Peterson had 21 carries for 32 yds) and Minn. had 44 yds rushing the entire game. We stopped the best ball carrier in the NFL, they won the game, but it was thru the air and with a PI call and FG w/ 13 seconds left to pull out the victory. They did nothing on the ground and had to resort to the air. So, unless somehow Kevin Kaeshviharn is resigned as our safety, I think it’s doubtful to see that agin.
"Indecision may or may not be my biggest problem" - Jimmy Buffett
As the Wildcat becomes more and more popular — which is pretty much inevitable, imo — I wonder if we’re going to see the NFL move away from the three and four point stance rules for DL. You would think at some point they’d have to start allowing certain measures of compensation in reactionary time. I can see the entire front seven lined up in a crouch, more pre-snap shifting, etc. Before the run-and-shoot took off, how often did teams even employ a dime package? Maybe in Hail Mary situations, and even then it was just a slightly more regimented variation of the prevent. There has to be some give and take there over the next year or two.

TOP is important but TOs can trump TOP
"Indecision may or may not be my biggest problem" - Jimmy Buffett
TOs reduce TOP. That’s the only reason why they might trump it.
"Paralyze resistance with persistence" -Woody Hayes
Well, not the ONLY reason … just the most likely.
"Paralyze resistance with persistence" -Woody Hayes
For example, if a team starts off five consecutive drives throwing interceptions that are run back 25 yards for TDs, I think it’s safe to say the 35 point deficit has a lot more to do with the loss than the 20 seconds or so they lost in TOP (collective duration of the five runbacks). All the “two hands wrapped securely around the ball” dink-and-dunk in the world isn’t likely going to overcome that type of self implosion.
