New Orleans Saints 46 @ Miami Dolphins 34: Prediction Results
Here are your results from Fridays prediction thread. The standards are being raised as this week we had five people get all three correct. Two just doesn't cut it anymore. A couple of other notes about this weeks predictions:
- If you predicted a certain number of touchdown's for Drew Brees but didn't specify run or pass, his rushing touchdowns will count.
- As far as I am concerned, the Dolphins only scored twice from the Wildcat (not three times as the Times-Pic claims). It was their first and last scores; both direct snaps to Ricky Williams. [Edited by Saintsational, 10/27/09 4:35 PM CDT ]
We still haven't had anyone accurately guess the final score though this weeks closest guess was probably bmi601 with his 42-32 prediction.
Make the jump for the results. Let the voting begin!

Isn't ponysaint #1 a yes by
the qualifier for Brees TD’s at the top? And therefore yet another 3-yesser?
by GlackAndBold on Oct 27, 2009 1:12 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Good question
and the answer is NO. Brees did NOT have 250 yards. He had 298. If Ponysaint meant that Brees would get AT LEAST 250 yards, then he should have worded it as such. As far as I am concerned, I took Ponysaints’s prediction to mean that Brees would throw for exactly 250 yards.
I have said this once and I will say it again…wording is everything. I am a big proponent of the subtle nuances of the English language. Use them to your advantage, not your disadvantage.

Fair enough :-)
Kudos on all this hard work by the way. As I was reading through, I noted one prediction “Dolphins will rush for more than any prior team…” and said to myself that one’s gotta take 5 minutes all by itself. Must be a chore to get through the whole list.

I try to make Saintsational work for it . . .
. . . by including one unusual and difficult to look up statistic each week. I am still jealous that he got to meet all of the Saints earlier this year.

Alas, just one word
I did mean “at least”, but Saintsational is right. I left it out. I also call Miami the Lions. Just another bad day at work, but as long as the Saints keep winning all is right in the world.

MtnExile
gets my vote. The Saints hadn’t trailed all year going in. Not only did he go out on a limb in saying that would happen, he nailed the sequence. Should Sedrick Ellis’s injury be considered major, though? It’s reportedly just a strain. Regardless, it appeared to be serious at the time.

correction
“Significant”, not serious. A game-ending injury to a starting defensive player was and should be construed as “significant”.

- was a yes, Wildcat TD from Williams and one from Ronnie brown later unless i’m mistaken? was brown’s running TD not from the wildcat?
by Lil_joe692 on Oct 27, 2009 3:34 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
ATTENTION!!!!
Joe, you are correct. Sort of. I made a mistake. The first and last TD by the Dolphins were both direct snaps to Ricky Williams and hence, the WildCat. The middle two were snapped to the quarterback and then handed off.
But that DOES make NYSaint’s first prediction correct and thus gives him three correct predictions. BUT, since NYSaint is a very good friend of mine and a douchebag at that, he’s gonna get screwed.

Actually… it doesn’t make a difference as I blew the turnover one… but how was I wrong here?
3. Brees 250+ yards, 3+ TD counting rush or pass, 2+ 35+ yard pass plays
Brees threw for 298 yards = 250+.
Brees had 3 TDs total = 3+ TD counting rush or pass.
Brees had a 37 yard pass to D Henderson at ~11:30 in the 3rd and a 66 yard pass to J. Shockey at the very start of the 4th = 2+ 35+ yard pass plays.
So what did I get gigged for? Are you really going to say that “or” means I have to have one or the other at 3+ on its own, because that’s pretty ridiculous.
by FriarBob on Oct 27, 2009 8:22 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
haha
No. What happened in your situation was that I decided to count Brees’ rushing TD’s AFTER I had already gone through your prediction. I went back and tried to find anyone whose predictions would need to be changed and guess I just didn’t see yours. Cause that’s a pretty damn good one.
Just good old human error on that one. My bad!

I haven’t predicted one correct one yet this year until this week and I got TWO!! That feels pretty good. I voted for Jful. I would’ve voted for MntExile but it may have been MntExile’s fault Ellis got hurt. But in Ellis’ honor, I bought an Ellis jersey right after the game. Get back soon big fella so I can wear it! LOL

Can’t believe the Saints got over 100 yards on the ground when they were down by so much. Awesome to see them come back and show some back bone that they’ve lacked in years past.

i'm amazed i got all three
b/c i have been soooo off every game so far. still, i’m voting for MtnExile—despite whatever hex he placed on Ellis and/or Evans—since i don’t think i should vote for myself, and predicting that we’d hold them to under 150 yards rushing is pretty bold—and more specific than my “no dolphin rushes for over 100 yards.” but in my defense, i guessed that sharper specifically would intercept henne, not just that he’d be intercepted at least once.
