potential playoff situation
Atlanta the NFC Divisional leader??? IS IT POSSIBLE...
Hey guys, i had an interesting question to ask in regards to the Saints.
If hell actually freezes over and the Falons actually beat the Saints twice , and the Falcons only loose one game to carolina and tampa, that would place atlanta as the NFC SOUTH Divisional leader.
With that being said would the Saints be awarded home field advantage in the playoffs, or would they just be awarded a wild card position even if their record was 14-2 which would beat Atlanta's overall record of 13-3.
Thanks

You have to have a better record first. ONLY if the record is tied — i.e. both teams are 14-2 — do you look then to divisional record, then head-to-head (if possible), then NFC record, etc.
For example, in 2006 the Saints were 10-6. Carolina beat them twice (once mainly because Payton rested his starters and basically threw the game). But Carolina was 8-8 even after that. The Saints went to the playoffs and Carolina went home.
If the Falcons are 13-3 and the Saints are 14-2, the Falcons are the wild card. Period.

Seriously
I hate the falcons, but to be honest I hate Carolina more and Matt Ryan is too good to let the Falcons go 8-8 this year, while Delhomme is falling apart is in the most awesome way possible
here's my prediction on their schedule
right now they are 4-2
next saints they lose 4-3
washington they win 5-3
at carolina lose 5-4
at ny giants lose 5-5
tampa bay win 6-5
philidelphia lose 6-6
saints lose 6-7
jets lose 6-8
bills win 7-8
at tampa 8-8
this is my opinion of how their season plays out
