Around SBN: Has Kentucky Improved Since the Non-Conference Season?

Interesting change of events...

Just perusing nfl.com's list of stats and one that....well surprised me is the wrong term...cause its something I've noticed but yet haven't really heard too much about. I'm guessing its because of the play of Darren Sharper, its casting of big shadow on the rest of our secondary, but the Saints have the 1st (sharper), 5th (Greer), and 11th (Porter) ranked players in Pass Deflections...and what does that mean. The dogs back there are making PLAYS! Our Cornerbacks! Seriously! I mean, I was upset we left the Predator go, but can't argue with results baby...Who Dat!

Stats

Tracy Porter is tied with the likes of Asante Samuel and Champ Bailey. Jabari Greer is one pass defense behind “Revis Island.” And, of course, Sharper is #1. We’ve gone from having one of the worst secondaries in the league to having, perhaps, the best.

yes

alot of it is greg williams defense.but alot of it is the fact that we added a vetren like sharper in the backfield to pull our db’s together

I heard one analyst

say that he would vote for Sharper as the league defensive MVP. After so many yrs of having a weak link in the secondary, it’s nice to have a full slate of playmakers back there. If there is a weak link back there now, I would have to say it is Harper, but he plays well within the system.

I don't think Harper's a weak link at all

He’s back playing his natural game, which is heavy on run support and blitzing. He’s a strong safety, after all.

With Sharper back there playing centerfield, we have so much flexibility that it brings out the best in everyone. He’s definitely MVP up to this point.

I would like to see him a little better in man and zone coverage.

Randall Gay is the weakest link in the secondary, imo.

I COMPLETELY agree.

Gay is the nickel back, isn’t he? That means he is only out there on obvious passing downs, while Harper is out there for every play. I know he is a good run supporter and blitzes well, but his pass coverage is below average, imo.
