my man Ralph
that dude is funny. "I want the Saints to be three touchdown favorite on the road. This needs to happen. Maybe Buddy D can arrange this to happen from heaven. I don’t ask for much. "

Big Game Monday Night.
The way I see it, the Saints have 3 worrysome opponents left on the schedule. The Falcons are definitely one of them, although I’m more worried about the game in Atlanta than this one. The other two have to be the Pats and the Cowgirls. Fortunately both are in the Dome.
With a win this Monday, the NFC has to be on notice that everyone else is fighting for 2nd place. Geaux Saints! Berl dem boyds!

Funny indeed
“Brett Favre media coverage makes me want to chew my own arm off.”
I snarfed a bit when I read this. At the beginning of the season, I felt just the same. But I have to admit that I’m pleasantly surprised that football media isn’t wall to wall Favre this week. Of course it’s getting mentioned a fair bit, but that’s to be expected when he returns to Lambeau with a 6-1 team. Be grateful that it’s not to the exclusion of everything else.

Falcons always scare me.
I remember too many times, when they have really damaged our seasons. I remember a 62-0 or 62 – 7 loss to them. I remember, I believe it was ‘79 when we lost to them 20 – 17 and 40 -34 and a win in either one would have been our first trip to the playoffs. If I remember right we finished 8 – 8 that year. The 40 -34 was particularly difficult, because we lost in overtime, when the punter after the ball sailed over his head tried to throw it out of the endzone and the Falcons intercepted it and ran it back for the winning touchdown. They also had two hail mary touchdowns in those games, if memory serves me correctly. I think both to Billy “White Shoes” Johnson. I also remember when we lost two or three db’s in a late season game against them and had to go into the playoffs against Minnesota with db’s we picked up off the waiver wires and got shreaded in the playoffs. I have many scary memories of the Falcons. Let’s hope this team is Falcon resistent. By the way, I’m predicting 44 – 19 Saints.

Saints win + Vikings loss
does not lock up the NFC top seed. It certainly helps, but there is way too much football left in this season to make such a claim. Yes, the Saints will be sitting pretty at 7-0 with a 3 game lead in the division. And yes, they have several easy games in the second half of the season. But there are at least 3 games after Monday night that could end up in the Loss column. Beyond the road game against Atlanta and the home games against the Patriots and Cowboys, the Saints still have 2 other road games in the division. Never underestimate the desire of a division rival to screw up your season, especially on their home field.
Besides the rest of the Saints season, Minnesota’s remaining season isn’t exactly filled with playoff contenders either. They have relatively easy games against Detroit, Seattle, Chicago (x2), and Carolina. Of the remaining 3 games that would be considered tough, two of them are at home – Giants and Bengals. That leaves one tough road game at Arizona. Minnesota could easily end up 13-3, even with a loss tomorrow at Green Bay.
Assuming a Saints win and Viking’s loss this weekend, there will also be 4 other teams with only 2 losses – Giants or Eagles, Packers, and likely the Cowboys and Cardinals.
