“While quarterback Drew Brees is still the key to the team — and by far the MVP — the Saints now have a defense that can not only keep the team in the game when the offense isn’t clicking but win it, like it did Sunday.”
I’m not so sure of that now. Darren Sharper is making a strong bid to be the MVP of this team. If we win many more with defense, he may overtake Brees. At any rate, Brees isn’t MVP “by far” anymore.

bah
Brees is the top dog still
Seeing busted plays and getting IN them.
First he hustles downfield and blocks for his RB? When have you seen a QB block downfield for a RB before?
Then he sees a fumble and goes so hard for it he loses his helmet. Behind the line you see this, not a couple yards downfield.

yeah not "by far"
And we don’t WANT Brees to carry this team every single week. It’s too much pressure.

He's been too good for too long
to change tunes this quick. Our offense has struggled, our defense has picked it up. It’s what Payton brought GW in for, to win those games like that. DSharp has been great but when the defense fails, Brees will be there just as Sharper has been for the offense.
Superbowl bound!!!...I know! do you?! Go Saints!!
