"Defensive Hog Index": Saints rank 4th
Intereresting statistical analysis. Rushing average, negative pass plays (sacks and INTs), and 3rd down percentage taken together. The best defenses in the NFL, in order: Denver, Philadelphia, Baltimore, New Orleans.
And if Philly is really that good...doesn't that mean that week 2 was maybe the best quality win of this NFL season?

Oh, and to all the "who got the better draft pick" in '06 people...
…the TEXANS are ranked DEAD LAST, y’know with the guy they picked before we got Reggie Bush, and the one that everyone keeps pointing at to prove what a “bust” Bush is…yeah…uh…we have the NUMBER TWO offense, and while it ain’t all Reggie’s doing, he’s a part of that fact, just as Williams is a part of the fact that the Texans are sucking wind on the D side.
…and yeah, we’re talking about our great DEFENSE?
:-)
What a difference a season and a DC that isn’t a chicken$4!7 makes!

I like this stat - How does this Hog statistic hold up to scrutiny over the last few years?
How many teams with good “Hog” numbers…. make the playoffs? win the super bowl?

I don't think Phila or Denver are the top 2 defenses, but they are pretty good
I think Buffalo, Jets and Pittsburgh should be in top 5, possibly Giants too. I think Giants are better than Phila ands maybe Cowboys are better than Phila also.
