Grand World Series Olylmpics of Nicknames Run-off!

I'd like to start by thanking Big and Easy for the name ;) This is the true final, which will hopefully not be dead even . . . again. Please rec this, so we can get maximum participation. The polls will close on Tuesday with the winner getting the kudos.

Star-divide

There are some things that need to be cleared up as well.

1. The Perfect Storm was not the name of the boat. It was the storm that destroyed the boat, which was a massing of three systems (Offense, Defense, and Special Teams . . . ?) to combine into one perfect storm. The Saints are the storm; the boat is everyone else in the league.

2. Domeland Security is a play on Homeland Security, which is charged with protecting the nation. However, that is done by offensive means as well as defensive. Domeland Security speaks of our team defending our area (New Orleans, which Domeland itself is a pretty good descriptor for) from the rest of the nation by defending the home and attacking other areas of the country.

I think they're both solid names that we really can't go wrong with.

Doesn’t look like it at this point. Oh well. I really don’t want a shirt with the other name on it. But I suppose I would like to help out the charity. Maybe I will buy one for somebody else or something…

Then again, maybe my luck will turn.

I've changed my vote

In the previous votes, I was a fan of The Perfect Storm. After today’s game against the Rams, I cannot in good conscience vote for any name with the word “perfect” in it. The Saints keep winning, and seem to be unstoppable, but they are NOT “perfect” in any of the three phases of the game. I don’t really care much for “Domeland Security”, it sounds a bit corny to me, but I’ll go with whatever the final outcome is.

You're right.

“Perfect” may come back to haunt us!

It's The Perfect Storm

Not the Perfect Record. Even if a team has a perfect record doesn’t mean they played a perfect game every time. Look at today. Offense and Special Teams AND good D won this game, even if it wasn’t pretty.

Just like The Perfect Storm! Powerful, multi-systemed, and ugly. Yet, very destructive of its opponents.

Excuse me, sir.

I see you have Domeland Security on your shirt. Could you please escort me to Section182, row H, seat 16? And by the way, where is the ladies room?

Sure, ma’am, I’ll be happy to escort you to your seat. And the ladies room is right over there under the sign that says ‘MEN’.

Yup. Sounds like fun, I want to try. Pity I can’t get to any of the games.

There are entirely TOO many good answers to that one. Please don’t tempt me.

Just thought I'd point out

I see the poll is closed, but notice that the entire number of votes cast is less than either of the options got in the previous poll.

I’d chalk that up to the disinterest generated by pointless runoffs.

Actually

The Poll was only open for 3 days instead of the 7 or more from previous polls. I wanted to get the Road on the Show. We’ve been at this far too long, and it was starting to look like the season would end before a concensus was reached. Anyway, that’s why the numbers were lower. The regulars on here got to be heard ;)

Heard a guy on Sports Talk..

.. or maybe it was The Point After or that other show, the Flip Side or whatever… gave a shout out to The Perfect Storm! Yeah, baby!

So are you declaring

“The Perfect Storm” the winning? Like I did two weeks ago!!!

Or are we going to run off until “Domeland Insecurity” finally wins?

This is OUR year!! Yea, I said it. Who Dat!!!

by Big and Easy on Nov 18, 2009 5:17 PM CST reply actions

Don't be an @ss

There’s a considerable difference in winning by 2/3 of the votes and winning by 2%.

And I NEVER voted for or wanted Domeland Security to win.

Considerable difference?

And the winner is “The Perfect Storm”.

Oh, I see the difference now. @$$

Actually 25% is the difference, but . . .
This is only the playoffs Super Bowl of nicknames coming up next. Top 3, probably.

Next time do what you say you are going to and don’t just end a poll right there, because YOU like the results. I wouldn’t have had to do any of this if you’d have just done what you said you would.

Yup. I agree. I knew odds were very good that this was the way it would end up working out, but it was by far the only fair way to do things. It gave everybody every chance to make all the annoying idiotic comments they wanted, probably pissed some people off irretrievably, but absolutely inarguably settled a true majority vote.

Doing it any other way isn’t fair. Either to the winners OR the losers.

Tie in breaking your word and really B&E I’m pretty shocked at you. I expected much better out of you than that. You always seemed like an honorable person to me before. Did you just hate Domeland Security that much? Or the other storm nickname? Your behavior has almost always been polite, decent, and honorable up to this point, did somebody hack your account or something?

by FriarBob on Nov 22, 2009 4:35 AM CST up reply actions

Their both cool

I like em both and the CSC fans seemed to also…they both have their merits but I tend to lean towards Domeland Security… just seems to have more of a Saints reference that The Perfect Storm does not…. if you took them completely out of context… one you might tie to the Saints, the other you wouldn’t. But since they will be certainly used IN context that’s not really a major factor…. How about the VooDudes? lol a voodoo witch doctor is always thinking about his craft…. scratch that, that could be a topic for next years club…DrewsVooDudes… I aint right… somebody stop me!
