We have to wait until Monday?
I feel really bad for the guy. He’s worked hard and this is a second terrible injury to set him back, even if it’s not a tear (which it probably is.) TP is a Louisiana native who has given us a lot to cheer for last year and this year. Let’s just hope he makes it through this okay.
But seriously, they couldn’t get this done tonight? He does play in the NFL right?

you have to wait
generally for any swelling to go down. that’s why it only would be done today

Oh yeah...
Hope for next year.
Hope Jenkins is as good as advertised by Mel Kiper.

Considering the source…
But I hope that he’s right this time. He’s got to be at least some of the time, I very much hope this is one of them.

I don't feel
as sure about our depth in the secondary as i did in the beginning of the season.

Ya, this is scary man..
The game today showed us what a depleted secondary looks like. Randall Gay is not a good cover corner, he’s a good nickel corner, the 3rd CB. So I think Jenkins should get the start and hopefully Jabari Greer will ok to start against the Bucs, same for Darren Sharper. Another guy who might be considered an option to start at cornerback is Usama Young, he played pretty well today at the safety position, had a big INT

National Football Post
They’re saying that sources within the Saints organization fear that Porter will be lost for the year. They’re saying that they think the MRI tomorrow will confirm this. Here’s the link:

It’s hard to tell if this is believable at this point, but after seeing how sad and distraught Porter looked as he was carted off the field, I expect it will be true. This blows! I hope Greer is back to 100% this week and that Jenkins is ready for the big time. I have little to no confidence in Gay. He’s better than Jason David, but he gives up way too many big plays.

NFL Network....
just said Porter is out for the year. I think this was a case of Rich Eisen jumping the gun with his reporting, though. I doubt he’s heard confirmation yet. Still, I would be shocked if Porter doesn’t go on the IR this week. DAMN IT!

screwed!
the strength of our D has been its incredible secondary play, we can only hope jenkins will be starting, because i have bad Fred Thomas/Jason David flashbacks when i see gay man up.

Yeah, Jenkins can use that nifty deflect-it-with-my-back move he’s got down.
Now is when G-Dub really earns his salary.

Yeah, that really bothers me...
In this case, I’d rather the guy be good than lucky. Porter was good. Jenkins is lucky.

It could happen.
I know the thought is enough to make one throw up in their mouth a little bit, but if Porter goes to IR, they’ll look to sign another CB for depth and David is familiar with the defense.

Jason David got signed by the Lions
and cut a week later.

honestly
i don’t think that’s as bad an idea as it may sound.
david continuously improved as a saint (he led the team in INTs last season), and i think with the improved leadership, coaching and talent in our defense/secondary he wouldn’t be a bad option for added depth.

Remember the preseason.
He got burned by one of our preseason opponents (was it the Texans?) several times and was then cut the following week. I’d rather they not bring him back.

We got a first round corner just for this!
As long as Greer and Sharper get healthy in the next few weeks, our secondary will be fine by playoff time. Gay was awful, but really, who wasn’t awful for some or all of that game?(Reggie, Roby, that’s it). Porter got beat bad at least once yesterday, too. I hope he’s fine, but we’ve got serviceable depth to cover that loss in house already. Of course, if these guys can’t bounce back from this slump at some point, they’ll be out in the second round of the playoffs regardless of who’s at corner.

could be usama young back to corner
in an injury pinch. He’s definitely better than Torrance (JD II) and probably better than Jenkins right now, maybe even better than Gay from what I saw Sunday.
Let Prioleau spell Sharper as needed

Just a strain, no tear!
Saints coach Sean Payton revealed Monday that RCB Tracy Porter does not have a torn ACL, and that his injury is not season ending.
The Saints feared that Porter might need reconstructive knee surgery as recently as Sunday night, but tests revealed a strained MCL. He’s probably still going to miss multiple weeks. Malcolm Jenkins’ snaps will increase.
