To Quote Jim Mora, "Playoffs!! Playoffs!!"

I would like to start looking at the rest of the season. Looking at our remaining schedule, I see three possible slips, New England, Dallas and Atlanta. I figure we will at go 1 - 2 in those games, which would give us a 14 - 2 record. I see four possible slips for the Vikes, the Cardinals, the Bengals, at Chicago after Christmas, and the Giants. I see, no better than 2 - 2 in those games, which would give them a 13 - 3 record, giving us home field advantage. I see the Saints, Vikes, Cardinals and Eagles as division winners. I see the Cowboys and Falcons as the wildcards, actually, I see identical 9 - 7 records for the Eagles, Cowboys, Falcons and Giants. Tie breakers give the division to the Eagles and the wildcards to the Cowboys and Falcons with the Giants, the odd man out. The Cardinals play the Falcons and the Cowboys play the Eagles. The Falcons and Eagles win with the Falcons playing New Orleans and the Vikings playing the Eagles. The Saints will meet the Vikes in the Superdome and win 48 - 42 in a shootout with six td passes by Brees, the defense gets the seventh td and five by Favre. We meet the Colts in the Superbowl and win 56 - 52 and the teams combine for 1200 total yards, 1000 of which are passing yards. Brees will get Superbowl MVP with 532 yards passing and 7 td passes. Manning will get 497 yards passing and 5 td passes.

I see 14-2 but

they will be to Panthers in Carolina, last game and home field will be locked and 1 of the 3 that you mentioned. Although we won’t lose to the Cowgirls.

Division wins I believe

Is there a such a thing as defense anymore?

All the rules are geared to increasing offensive production. Additionally Minnesota has been giving up chunks of yardage, as have we to every team with a decent qb. Case in point Green Bay. The thing is, like the Saints they don’t give up that many tds and get a lot of redzone stops. I don’t think the Saints or Vikings will be able to stop the other’s offense, particularly with the injuries both teams have incurred. The Colts and Saints secondaries are both banged up pretty bad. I can see a shoot out, easily. I was exaggering a bit on the scores for the fun of it, but I do expect both the Saints-Vikings and the Saints-Colts to go over 75.

NO WAY

If the saints clean up the mistakes their is not a team on their schedule that can stop them. New England-NO Secondary, Dallas- Just disrupt tony romo, Atlanta- They will not loose to Atlanta. The key is fixing the mistakes. Have some faith in our guys. New england can be beat ; 3 teams have done that and as far as I concerned its gonna be 4 when they come to the Dirty South.

It's not the mistakes

It’s injuries and they are mounting. Sedrick Ellis, Jabari Greer, Tracy Porter, Lance Moore, Kendrick Clancy, Jonathan Goodwin, Derrick Sharper… That’s the problem.

Injuries and Mistakes

I think we are both diehard saints fans. I agree injuries are a big problem. None the less coach paytonhit it dead on whern he said " Every player on your roster needs to be ready to play at any time" We do have big injuries but regardless, none of the teams you mention can stack up against a mistake free saints team. Just look at the past few weeks and see how many points were scored off of saints mistakes, as opposed to the other teams running game. Remember we are on the same team, I am bot disagreeing with the key injuries. But what I would like to see someone post on here is to stop talking about 16-0. Right now we need to worry about 10-0. the 16-0 topic should not come untill they are 15-0 and playing carolina in th final game of the season.

by JAM13 on Nov 17, 2009 11:25 AM CST up reply actions

Quite a prediction

I don’t see such high scoring games except for maybe the first playoff game for us. Minn will probably be a close, mid 20s or mid 30s game. Colts…it just depends on who shows up for that game. I’ve watched most of their games and most of their games they should’ve lost. Although, i guess the same could be said about us.

Superbowl bound!!!...I know! do you?! Go Saints!!

Ellis is not that critical, and Vikings have a better chance of getting Home field advantage then the saints

Hargrove is playing excellent foot ball. He was the reason why we had a fumble recovery for a touchdown in the carolina game, that led to the Win. Ellis may be better at stopping the run, but Hargrove by far has performed better when the saints are in a tight spot.

The saints seem to struggle against teams who have a good foundation of running.
for example:
Miami, Atlanta, Carolina, and the Jets all had top ten offensive ranking in rushing.
The Giants did to however the saints blew them away.

If you look at future schedule, we will still have to play Atlanta, (9th rushing in league) Carolina (3rd in the league) Cowboys (8th)

When the playoffs are upon us, there is a good chance that we will either play atlanta again (9th in league) Cowboys (8th in the league) or the horrific offense of the Vikings that rank 10th in rushing with passing ranked 12th along with a solid defense.

The overall point to make is unless GW finds a better way to limit the run, not just in the second half, it will be increasing difficult to win games with atlanta, carolina especially being on their home turf. The saints do have a solid record against dallas, however, its later on in the season.

If home field advantge is indeed determined by overall record 1st, and using divisional wins as a tie breaker, New orleans is at greater risk for not obtaining the home field advantage.

The Vikings Division is is easier to win in comparision the the Saints.
Vikings have already beaten Green Bay twice, Bears once and the Lions.
All the Vikings have to do is beat the Lions once, along with the bears, which lately have not been a difficult task to do.

I am not trying to beat up on the Saints, I am just realize the reality and trying to put it in perspective.

Vikes have beat GB twice and the Lions twice and have yet to play the Bears, but same total.

by Salty on Nov 17, 2009 7:57 AM CST up reply actions

Sed Ellis is the reason

the Saints are having trouble against the run. Before his injury we were stopping the run mostly, because he could clog the point of attack. We have no one to do that now, because our dt are smallish, unless Pressley can come through. With the injury to Clancy, our dt situation is not looking good.
I beg to differ, we need Sed Ellis back. By the way in the Saints remaining schedule, we play three teams with winning records. Minnesota plays three plus two games with the Bears. They have not beaten the Bears by the way. They play the Bears on weeks 12 and 16.
An interesting stat at the time in which they played them the combined record of the Vikings was 17 – 21, while the Saints’ opponents were 20 – 17.
