Saints won ugly, get over it.

I know every one is happy with the 9-0 record, but not how they acheived it on Sunday.
Here is the question, since a lot of people are not happy with the Saints win over the Rams on Sunday. Which team, in your opinion, is playing good at all phases of the game.  The Patriots lost to Indy.  Indy secondary looks bad.  Cincy offense can be slow.  The Vikings did not put the Lions away until the 4th quarter.   Cowboys got beat by the Packers.  Alanta got beat by the Panthers.  The Chargers looked good against Philly.  In my opinion, there is not one team out there that has been dominate in all phases in the game.  I truely believe the Saints can complete and win with every team in the NFL this year.

Boom!

Saintsational about to go postal…

Besides: Brees, Vilma, and Fujita were all quoted by Jeff Duncan voicing the same concerns we have. Yeah, the party’s fine, it’s lots of fun…but when a loved one starts to exhibit symptoms of something that could be serious, you should get worried.

First off, the Patriots lost because they gave up 14 points in the last 5 to 6 minutes of the game.

Their coach made a very bad decision, but did you watch the game Indy’s secondary is bad. Second all, I get it, they play bad the last few games. There is nothing we can do. I don’t care if they are perfect at the end of the season. I can’t tell you how upset I was when the Saints lost to the freaking Bears(I was heartbroken), because I thought the Saints would never make it back. Now it is three years later and the Saints have their chance again. The Saints are winning games that they normally would lose. The Saints are not a perfect team, but you didn’t answer the question which team is playing better. I don’t know how long you been in Louisiana, but we have a long history of our teams playing down to our competition. I been a Saints since the late eighties. This is one of the best overall teams. I would be worry if none of the team member talked about how bad they played. They have been talking the last three weeks about the mistakes. They know they need to fix some problems, so what is it that you all have a problem with. All I can say is I recognize they played lousy yesterday, but they still won. The team knows they played like crap, and I like that they recognized it.

We're trying to avoid the heartache.

When we win the Super Bowl this year, then I’ll relax and apologize for not seeing the team as you do. Who’s playing the best football right now, you ask? I’d rank the Bengals, Colts, Patriots, and maybe even the Cardinals just ahead of the Saints. But this isn’t the BCS, so none of that matters. I still believe in my team. I just wish they’d clean a few things up before it bites them in the ass.

I completely understand your position.

I was so heartbroken when the Saints lost the NFC championship game. I really didn’t think they would make it back any time soon. I guess I’m not smart enough to guard myself against the heartache like some of you. I know my heart will be broken again if they lose in the playoff, but it hasn’t happen yet. I think after ready the SP press conference , the team knows they need to play better. Here is another point, when do we say the Rams are better team then their record. For example, if the Rams turn it around and win 5 out of the next 7, would you give the saints a little bit more credit. I’m not saying the Rams will turn it around, but again we are not the team who lost to the Rams. The good news is 3 out of the 4 teams play in the AFC. The Cardinals can be beat, just ask the Panthers.

testify

the rams and colts already played. it was a blowout of like 44-7 or something around that. The Colts secondary now looks bad because they’ve lost their 2 starting CBs and Bob Sanders. They’re playing rookie CBs. Pats should’ve won. The Colts have been handed a few games, not just that one, imo.

Actually, the way we are playing right now, we won’t be much more than a bump in the road for Brady & friends.

Then again, we seem to play on MNF exactly the opposite of the way we “should” play.

We played Atlanta and we shouldn’t have blown them out, no, but we should have won… and we almost didn’t. We should have beat the pants off of the Vikings last year and didn’t even win at all. Etc etc.

And on the flip side, some of our most memorable games are MNF games when we “didn’t have a chance” and we pulled off the “incon_ceiv_able” upset. Often in the process playing our Super Bowl for the year.

So maybe the secret is to play really bad again next week, barely beat (or even, gulp, lose to) another bottom feeder, be 10+ point underdogs in our own house… and then maybe we can rise up and give the world a real good show instead.

I agree that we do seem to get up for the big games. At least, the ones that don’t take place in Soldier Field or the RCA Dome.

jets beat the colts

we beat the jets…I beg to differ. The Jets are a mediocre team Patriots have 3 losses now. And they are unbeatable?? Patriots lost to the Broncos who now seem to suck. And, the Bills had the Patriots beat, over and done with until a stupid Kickoff returner tries to get 2 extra yards when the game is decided and all he has to do is take a knee and run the clock out. That would have mean the patriots have a 5-4 record. You are giving the Patriots too much credit. They got beat by Sanchez and Kyle Orton. Cmon.

I said “the way we are playing right now”. And with that absolutely critical limitation, I stand by my statement. Because right now (aka the last few weeks) we’ve played like pure crap. If we change that in time, I have no doubt we can beat them (though whether we will or not remains to be seen). But if we don’t, we won’t even be in the ballgame after the first quarter.

The Pats game

shows exactly why we can’t play like we did against the Rams and expect to win a playoff game.

Marc Bulger’s attempt at a game-winning drive was laughable—if only Jenkins can block ALL passes with his back!—and basically any other competent (i.e., not 1-7) team would have won given the way we played.

Sorry, I can’t be excited about a big giant turd of a performance, especially when it’s been a developing trend in our last few games.

i agree with what your saying

but I believe Paytons friendship with the Rams coach almost caused Payton to blow this game with bad bad decisions…

Great Teams win.

The Saints were moving the ball fine, the had a fumble in the endzone and 2 pics when they were driving for another score. There defense is small and has problems against big funning backs, Turner, Jackson, Williams. As long as they keep the TO down, they will be unstoppable. I think our defense stop teams more than the saint will stop themselves on offense. So we will be good this year, just gotta get that home-field advantage.

honestly...

I’d say let people be people. Some people don’t like the win, but will take and that’s alright, it’s constructive and could better prepare us for a loss. Others take the W for what it is and move “on to da next one” not really wanting to focus on the negative. That’s fine too. But don’t get upset at each other for it.

Don't worry I got your back cuz...

Ok, so here's the running talley ~

Most of us didn’t like the way we won.
All of us like the fact that we did win.

Most of us are concerned about the non-continuation of our early season blowouts.
All of us like 9-0.

Most of us are not as confident now as we were a couple of weeks ago.
All of us are preparing to order our “Superbowl Champion Saints” T-shirts!

Welcome to Who Dat Nation!

"The future of the team we saw Sunday night is not very bright?"

Cmon, clearly you are all about panic. There is no room for panic here. Especially when your team is 9-0, it has almost clinched a playoff berth, is a shoo-in for winning the NFC South, and is winning week in and week out inspite of injuries, sicknesses, etc…… Other fans would kill to be in our shoes. The best thing that could happen tpo us is to lose a game. We don’t want the monkey on our backs to ty and stay undefeated tp the playoffs. This is exactly the time in the season where you WANT to have your low point. ESPECIALLY if you can still win during your low point. Just ask the 2007 NY Giants- no better yet- ask the 2007 Patriots. It’s all about momentum. Last year the Cardinals weren’t really a great team – they got on fire and got momentum at the right time. We are at the low point of our season and we are still overcoming injuries and making keys plays to win games. NO team will ever (or almost never) blow EVERY NFL opponent away. The best you can hope for is have a team that finds a way to win games, one way or another, That’s what it is all about. That’s ALL it’s all about. You can be elite and pretty and polished and popular like New England, or you can just win your games. Take your pick. And stop the panic. We’re for real.

so on target...

Once again, Philinwood, I’m in total agreement with you and thanks for the comments. Well, except for that comment about a loss. I know what you’re saying but I’m way more concerned about the team just getting down on themselves – as much as alot of the fans are. Good god! I just wrote a comment on another site about how, for, really, the first time in my life I have to argue for my team actually being better than someone else’s! Let’s just keep rockin’.

Warms my heart to know there is no panic!!

And at first I made a typo and it came out PICNIC instead of PANIC. Maybe that sums it up. A lot of us thought this would be more of a PICNIC than it has turned out to be!! No picnics in the NFL.

We Need To Get Our House in Order

The past 240 Minutes we have exposed our weaknesses seriously. Every team in the NFL has looked at how Miami, by collapsing the pocket, either forces Drew Brees to throw interceptions or forces a sack. The Saints are a better team than we’ve been playing these last 4 games. I agree that if it were the Pack or the Colts playing the Rams, it would have been at least a 30 point spread to close the game out. All the focus seems to be on the void in the secondary, but there is an offense on this team that is not showing up. I’m all for a balanced team, but not balance for the sake of demonstrating balance. We came into the season with an offense that was highly praised. Where has it gone? There are enough weapons on this team to have allowed us to put up some serious points on the board and we failed to do that. The last thing we need to do at this 9th hour is to expose our weaknesses when teams are getting better. I’m all for 9-0 and a less than stellar win against a GOOD team, but we don’t deserve to be #1 in the power ranking after that performance.

Any QB will not perform well with a collapsed pocket

mark my words- we will try to beat Tampa straight up like we played vs Rams etc, but when we get to Patriots, you will see screen passes and a draw play or two to counteract that collapsing pocket and to surprise the defense. That is why our reverses work so qwell, DEs sell out to collapsing the pocket with DTs and no outside contain. But, we are not a team that other teams expect us to screen often and i think that will change. In the past we didn’t have to. Maybe now we do.
