Dynasty

You know, what I see with the Saints is th potential for a Dynasty.  Yeah, what can I say?  I'm a strategist and visionary by nature and experience....and, also, terribly optimistic.  But, here's what i see.  I see a head coach who has the caliber to make it happen.  I had a long discussion with my son before the season about how Payton was one of the few with enough wits to pull together a defense to match that awesome offense.  Ta da!  I also see a town that can attract and keep good people.  I mean NOLA just can't be touched by anyone who has ever spent time there.  It's just special.  Add to that a winning standard (hope, hope, hope) and you've got something special.  Oh, yeah, and fans that back their team.  While I hear a lot of moaning and pain, right now, I know y'all love 'em and it's the fear, worry and history that's biting a lot of people.  Guys, this is it!  This is what we've all waited 40 odd years for!

Ok, my apologies if I screw this up and post it twice...first try.

Nah. I think we should hold off on the Dynasty talk 'till we win back-to-back Superbowls...

A Dynasty ????????????

A Dynasty is a team that can win 2-3 Super Bowls. We aint there yet BUT……………………..
I wouldn’t mind taking away that " AMERICAS TEAM " Label from across the state line cause from what I’ve seen, the Saints are Americas Team since Katrina game. That SOB was a pure tear jerker and will always be in my memory. And…..America loved it too.

We already are a Dynasty

Dynasties are just winning teams. The Pats, Steelers and Colts are all dynasties right now. It’s a team that is going to be good and challenge every year. The Saints fit that category RIGHT NOW. They have since 2006. Sure, they’re a lower echelon dynasty, but still a dynasty none-the-less. Every year since 2006, they’ve been talked about as a contender and challenged for the playoffs. Hell, two of those years of not making it could be attributed to really bad injuries and poor field goal kicking. Think that’s a cop-out? What were the Steelers without Polamalu? What would the Colts and Pats have done without a few game winning field goals?

The Saints were always on the cusp, they just know how to finish this year. They’ve been and will be a dynasty so long as Brees is the quarterback and Payton is the coach.

A dynasty is a team that most informed fans expect to go far in the playoffs EVERY year.

Just listen to the nay-sayers on this blog since our below average showing against the Rams and I can’t really call our boys a dynasty, yet.

But, God, I love ’em!!!

Fat, dumb, and happy. Hell, two out of three ain't bad!

Nice point, Just 'Nother Day

I was thinking after reading the resposes that the most important thing is the ‘tradition’ that comes with a dynasty and a BIG part of the tradition is the belief that your team can win. And, you are absolutely right, we ain’t there yet. I think some of us are but it’s gotta be that you can see it in the eyes of the stranger you meet on the street. When the team stumbles, you shrug it off and say no big deal. And, the funny thing is that once you get that feeling rippling throug the city, it lasts waaaay past a good team. It’s real with the Saints. It will just take a while for the rest of the city and the country to recognize it. That’s an interesting fact, also. If you look around the country, I think everyone else, except the fans, have accepted it much more quickly.

Now, all that said, the other thing I was thinking after reading the replies is that, yes, winning the superbowl is a whole different ball game (pun intended). But, I know we can do it! Maybe not this year, though I strongly believe we will be in the superbowl, at least. This dynasty is knocking at the door and will not be denied.

God, I love ’em, too!!!

The only dynasty New Orleans has ever seen was the 1979 Kiss tour, if I’m not mistaken.

We are a "lower echelon dynasty"

I like that, shooting for Upper Echelon Dynasty. But for now, all I’m thinking of is this year.
