OK

You make some good points.
But let me ask you a few questions
Sean Payton is the coach not the g.m. or owner do you really think a person that ponied up $250,000 of his own money to get a defensive coordinator, would limit a players touches to save the team money if he thought giving him the ball more would help him win games.
Great seasons in the nfl are few and far between(expecially for the saints) i dont think payton( or any coach) would risk losing a game over money
This could be the Saints greatest season ever Sean Payton has to have a plan for Bush
But i agree we need to get hiom the ball more

no but I think they will want to restructure his contract...

And I’m not sure I really believe this but I’m not putting it above them… think about it: they gave the dude incentives with they renegotiated and now he’s not even getting the ball. How is he going to meet those incentives? It’s like your boss tellin you that he’s going to give you a certain salary if you do this and that but then he cuts your hours…I’m just saying think about it…

Don't worry I got your back cuz...

Why is it that conspiracy theories always end up in New Orleans?

If Reggie helps us win a Superbowl the money angle would be laughable!!! How much money do you think the Benson family would give to have a 100% lock on a Superbowl win?

Mucho dinero, amigo! And I’m not even Spanish!

Geaux Saints, ole’!!!

Good article, I think you make some good points

But I think Payton wants to a) keep Bush healthy b) get him just enough touches to keep him primed as a weapon (and he just barely has done that- I think if he had it to do over again, Reggie would get more) c) Payton is trying to keep all his “weapons” (there are many) priimed and happy ( difficult task) and d) he is expecting Reggie to play bigger roles vs New England and in the playoffs. Bottom line is we are winning and I think Payton thinks he has to have Bell/Thomas as his “slammer” backs – I think he thinks (and I agree) that this team has to have that aspect, and he is not happy with Reggie in that role. He doesn’t want to appear or get the label as a “finesse team”. So, that is why you see Bell/Thomas getting more carries. But, Reggie is tied for the team lead in TDs, so i think you will see more of him down the stretch- remember we hopefully have 10 whole games left if we get a first round bye, and 11 if we miss the bye which we won’t. Lots of folks are looking at it like we only have 7 left and that’s not really the reality.

Very well said

I been saying all along that Payton has been resting players for the long haul and no one believes me. It’s not how you start the season but how you finish that counts. It’s a long season and we will need a healthy team to compete for a SUPER FREAKING BOWL. Geaux Saints

I don't think so. . .

Why would he continue to put him in during goal line situations if that was the case? I’m sure one of the incentives is touchdowns.

I think he either lost a lot of confidence in his ability to hold onto the ball, he’s pissed at him, or he’s saving him for late in the season and the playoffs when he’s needed.

i thought that too...

lets see what happens as the season goes on. If Reg gets the ball a lot vs. NE then we know that he has been playing mind games with coaches particularly NE’s.

I could see that

Payton trying to give the Pats something they haven’t seen yet this year really so there’s not much tape. I think it’s for the end of the season/playoffs that we’ll see him more.

Superbowl bound!!!...I know! do you?! Go Saints!!

It is a little bit of everything!!

I watched the NE v.s. Indy game and the RB out the backfield and TE/Slot WR will have big day. Pierre, bush Shockey and moore should do well. Reggie has the most upside in these matchups. I will guarantee a double screen(fake screen to long side of field and pass to short side) going Bush’s way against NE.

He is also not getting touches to have fresh legs for all 3 backs late in the season.

Incentives are a part also. I think payton uses bush as decoy b/c it works.

It is not all about money but if we win the SB Bush will be happy to take paycut to keep the team together. He and everyone else in our organization knows SB heals all and money will come.
