Why I hate Charlotte.

I'm exiled in Charlotte for employment reasons. I hate Charlotte. It is by far the most boring place I have ever lived. To make matters worse I have yet to get one Saint game because the Panthers are the local team and they always get priority. The Miami game was no exception. I tried signing up to one of those online services, but their was only one feed for the Miami game so I was forced to watch it using the NFL.com scoreboard. Waiting for it to update was terminally dull and when the Saints were down 24 - 3, I was heartbroken. All I saw was that Colston was stopped on the one yard line and that the Saints were out of timeouts. I went outside to do some work with the idea that the Saints were down 24 - 3 at half. Unbeknownst to me my daughter and her fiancee had gotten the feed to work and knew that the half score was 24 - 10, but didn't tell me as a joke. I went back to my computer after doing the yard work to see that the game was now 27 -24 with only a 1+ to go. I thought it was the fourth quarter and not the third. I saw the score change to 34 - 24 with 1:35 to go. I said well they at least came back and made a game of it. I started doing my lesson plans for the next week. After about a hour my daughter came up crowing that the Saints had won 46 -34. I said she was lying and asked how could they have scored 22 points in 1:35. Visions of a score and two points, an onside kick another quick td and probably a touchdown on a last minute interception. But I looked up the game on the scoreboard again and saw that I missed an entire quarter. I was upset. I had to wait for NFL replay to see the game, but knowing the end kind of spoils it for you. I can't wait for Monday Night Football to see my Saints live for the first time this season. I hope I don't jinx them.

Ouch!

Ka-ching! Makes Charlotte look like Nirvana! Kinda’ puts things in perspective, doesn’t it?

Thank you for your service, sir.

mississippisaintsfan...

…thanks for your service. Hope you’re either home or soon to be.

To the OP, I definitely feel your pain man.

Yes, Charlotte sucks, one of the most incredibly boring “big” cities I’ve ever seen. Greensboro is more interesting, and it’s half the size!

There is apparentlly a pretty sizeable contingent of us in NC, I’m in Greensboro, there are a few in the RDU area, and MtnExile is up in Asheville.

It can indeed be frustrating to be stuck in Kitty World, but you’re not alone!

A suggestion:

To see the games, find a local sports bar and make friends with the Saints fans there – there will be some! – that’s what I did here.

There’s a move afoot to get some of us together for a game this season, hopefully you can join in!

I feel your pain. Try living in Giants/Jets territory. Glad this year I was able to make the trip south to see the Giants gets the butt whopping they deserve, so I was able to tape both games, now they have 2 Monday night games that I can also tape. As for getting tickets to the Panthers/Saints game might I recommend : www.wanamakerticket.com

Who Dat Nation member in NC

I feel your pain, my friend. Fortunately, I have Sirius and can catch them on there, but normally, I frequent a local sports pub establishment. I am usually the only one with a Black and Gold jersey on, but over the course of the last few years, regualr patrons cheer with me, regardless of their team, unless we are playing each other.

01/03/10

All of us North Carolina Saints fans need to meet up in the" flaming queen city" for what we all hope will be the Final Countdown. We could have a CSC tailgate party. Just think of the photo ops. LOL. South Carolina and South Side Virginia Who Dats are close enough to make that trip. On another note I hated to see the Pink Panthers get that Mo yesterday. 10 hr. 45 min. to go

Try living in Sacramento

If you want boring, this city takes the cake. For sports, the only game in town is the Kings of the NBA, and no one really cares about them anyway. Football coverage is thin, always the 49ers and the Raiders, (both about an hour away), and nightlife for the over 30 crowd doesn’t exist. The 2 hr time difference means a noon kickoff in New Orleans starts at 10 am here. I can only hope that I get to move back to NOLA one day.

im in redskins territory

I feel your pain, but last season I found a pool hall that has exactly 30 big screen t.v.s and 4 projectors.. and yes they do have the nfl ticket… I walked in and almost started crying because there they were… the saints!! not only on 1 tv in the corner…. but one projector and one tv…

after that i have been going there for my games… (although it does get very noisy on redskins days)

I am a jack of all, and master of none

30!

That would constitute a riot in Charlotte. They come in twos to Panther games, like Noah’s Arc. They had a block party where I lived and only six people showed and the police thought it was a riot. There are NO just bars here. There are some yuppie like sports bars, but everyone is so polite. NO swearing at the screen, no yelling at officials and no trash talk. Their big event is get this, a Renaissance Fair

Renaissance Fair?

My, my, I thimply muthst prepair!!! LOL

You should go and wear your Saints jersey, gym shorts, and flip flops while sporting a “Who ’Dat?” hat!
A six pack of beer and occasional fart should really set the mood!!! Ha!

I had on

A Saints hat, a Brees Black Jersey, a pair of Saints socks, my Saints sneakers and my Saints jacket. I guess I need some pants. When I started yelling at the screen in the third quarter on that push off which resulted in a td, I was asked politely to be quiet or leave. I left. I missed the rest of the third quarter. I have to find a place that at least allows loud talking.

They may have said it was the yelling . . .

but I really think that it was the lack of pants that did it.

Go to a sports bar

Being in the Army, I haven’t been in New Orleans in 10 years except for family visits. I’ve maybe missed a handful of Saints games in that time. Either through DirectTV or going to a sports bar that broadcasts all or nearly all the games, I’ve never had to miss a game.

Look up the bars in your area and call around, then make sure you get there when they open, which is usually 10 minutes before kickoff for bars located west of central timezone, not sure about opening times for the east coast. The point is, if you get there at opening time, hand em your card and start a tab, they’ll GLADLY put it on a TV for you. They want your money after all.

West coast bars all offer a breakfast menu on gameday too. Gotta love Eggs, Bacon and BEER! Anyway, that’s what I do, and it hasn’t failed me yet. Damn sure beats looking at it on the net.

I was asked to leave

I went to a local sports bar and was asked to leave. I have four tickets for the last game here. I will keep you posted, I may have an extra ticket. My son may be working.

I feel your pain...

…however, if you want to drive the ~90 minutes north to Greensboro, there’s a pretty tolerant place here. I’m EXCEPTIONALLY obnoxious, they just find it amusing where I hang (I keep it PG of course, but LOUD).

I’m always happy to have backup, if you choose to head up this way! ;-)
