Saints say cool it at the Airport.....
The Saints issued a plea to the "Best Fans in the NFL" on Friday, asking them to hold back their enthusiasm while welcoming the team home after road games at the airport, citing safety and security issues.
Here's the full message, which was signed by Owner Tom Benson, Coach Sean Payton, General Manager Mickey Loomis and quarterback Drew Brees.
"One of the highlights of returning home after a road game is seeing our fans at the airport. It has become a great Saints tradition, unique among NFL teams.
"In recent weeks, the number of people lining the streets at the airport has grown to the point where it is now a safety issue. With that said, we need to recognize the potential dangers of having small children on very crowded streets with moving vehicles.
"We are asking that all of our great fans refrain from approaching the cars of Saints players and officials as they depart the airport. And we please ask that you also refrain from seeking autographs as the players depart.
"We salute your passion for our team and thank you for your understanding and continued support!!"

BS
this press release is a big load. i don’t think the players or organization came up with this. i think the airport officials told the Saints to tell the fans to back off. i saw the players on the news last week when they came in, and they seemed happy to see the fans supporting them and signing autographs… the players like doing that kind of thing. it’s a bad excuse saying small children are running around… this is clearly from the airport officials because they don’t want some kind of lawsuit

Maybe they just want to avoid some potentially horrible occurence
if a kid or an adult got injured badly not only would it be a terrible tragedy for that person(s) but might also change the whole tone of the seson. Maybe they already had a little bit of a close call. You also can’t blame the airport for trying to avoid a bad accident,

Yep...
gotta agree that it’s probably getting pretty crazy out there now. The way people are these days, i’m surprised nobody has thrown themselves in front of a car yet to get rich quick. Probably not the most popular thing to say so sorry.
Dave, you been out there yet to see how crowded it’s becoming?

The best way to solve a problem is to prevent it in the first place.
Also, much as they can say they like seeing the fans at the airport and signing autographs and whatnot, they probably just want to go home and sleep after a LONG day at work, not spend another 3 hours at the airport.

Screw those guys
I’m a grown-ass man. I’ll go scream at cars in the parking lot if I want.

Heyyyy
Are you that guy I’ve seen standing on his porch in his underwear screaming, “GET OFF MY LAWN.” at all the cars that pass.

I agree on not approaching the team members.
I’m sure they’re elated that the Fans have come out to welcome them home but, let’s face it, there’s got to be a certain amount of exhaustion behind those smiles coming from the car window! Just clap and cheer. They’ll get the message!

And for God’s sake don’t bug them about autographs. Nothing would annoy me more than having killed myself on the field then flown several hours, be extremely late at night and have thousands of people wanting and fighting for autographs from me.
